Ok...i have a really strange/wierd problem. This past weekend, i was at my local track lapping for around 2.5 hours. I put a total of 140KM (around 90 miles) track miles during this event. Whenever i pited, i will check my oil level and everytime, the dip stick showed oil levels to be at the highest dot. Fine....no problems. As the day went on, the oil level remained full. After the event, i checked my oil one last time before the 2.5 hours drive home and again, i was fine. I get home, tired as hell, unloaded my car, and headed for bed. The next morning, i decided to check the oil one more time before washing it and to my surprise, my oil stick was DRY!!! Nothing! I even double, triple checked with the same results. There was absolutely NO oil on my dipstick. I added a quart and checked and it was almost full again so i was down a liter. How can this be? I mean, how can i be full before leaving the track and down to nothing the next morning? Anyone has any ideas? Is this level of oil consumption normal??
Here are some facts:
- i am running castrol syntec (shitty oil, as i noticed oil consumption is SIGNIFICANTLY higher)
- the motor is a 94 JDM B18C
- i push my car HARD while i lap. Often, it will see 8500 rpm

Exhaust valve guides are probably shot. This happens on older B18c's that I have experience with. Time to freshen the head. Your oil consumption is similar to what I saw on mine, and it got to the point that I was adding a quart of oil for each tank of gas.
Hope that the poor guy who bought it listened to my warning about keeping the oil level in mind.

The exhaust valve guides for Hondas are always on the loose side. My best is oil rings. You can see things like good compression numbers, but still have a motor that burns lots of oil.

I know I"m stating the obvious, but: did you give the motor a few minutes to cool down BEFORE you checked the oil level? After a session, I give my motor a few minutes to cool off, then check the oil, and top off accordingly. Also, I usually run my motor ~ 1/4 of a quart over (at the track) to lessen the consumption , and try and prevent any starvation.

Right, if you check the oil when you just get off the track, it will read high because the oil splashes around so much....

So if it's oil rings, the compression numbers will still be high while burning alot of oil?

I checked my oil after i changed out my RA1s so that was a good 20 min.
