Default JDM 23mm rear sway questions

Has anyone used one of these? Is it any help at all over the factory R rear sway? Any geometry changes, or is it identical to the stock ITR sway, only 1mm larger?

AJR has this piece and it bolts right in.....

I'm still not too comfy with the tail end stepping out.... which is why I've decided against it ...well till some time later....

hehe...

That's where I got mine from, and actually it seemed to make my tail end a bit less loose, if you can believe that. That's why I was wondering about geometry changes.

I have it on my car, it does make quite a difference over my old 14mm, what do you guys mean by it sticking out?

Stepping out you mean? FF cars tend to understeer, and using a larger rear sway bar can help achieve more neutral handling. It also means that the thicker the rear bar the more likely the *** end of the car is to come around in a corner if you're not careful (oversteer).

Can 1mm really make that much of a difference? I wouldn't mind having a little bit more rotation in the ITR, but I'm afraid I'll end up filing an insurance claim. Maybe after I know the car a little better (it's only been 8K miles). How much for the JDM bar?

dan @ godspeed has the 23mm rear bar listed on his site (it's cheap). as of two weeks ago, he didn't have any in stock (waiting for a shipment).

Blech, the problem with going toe out or no toe in the rear on these cars is that under braking, the backend can be really unstable. I used to have toe out in the rear, and it would require things like SERIOUS mid-corner corrections, even when you're full throttle, and the rear end would swing about 10-15 degrees around under HARD braking.

It's perfectly normal to have the rear wiggle a little, or feel like it's light under braking, but mine was real damn hard to keep the car straight. Changed the alignment, and now it's very stable under braking. A TON more relaxing, let me tell ya!
