Hey guys I just bought a 1988 crx dx and have some questions. The engine is a d15b not d15b2, d15b8, etc. Just a d15b non vtec dpfi engine with the engine serial number written on the valve cover. The car also has power steering and I thought no usdm crx's had powersteering. What could this be?? I was thinking maybe a swap but I'm not sure. Anyone else ever run into this?

I was under the impression that the only crx's/hb's that had p/s were the auto cars??? I may be wrong though.

 

Automatic hatches do have power steering stock...

Owner of two A/T CRX DX's no p/s in either. EDM and JDM CRX's had it.
I think maybe the EF sedans or wagons with A/T had power steering.
Not sure about EF coupes.(trim level?)
I know the some EG coupes had power steering though.(trim level?)

 

Well I know that 1990 auto dx hatchbacks have power steering. So perhaps the hatchies got p/s while the crx didn't.

It sounds like someone put a salvage engine in it..
Are you saying the power steering is "all hooked up"
Or does it just have a pump on the engine? any pics?

 

Are you SURE you're looking at P/S pump and not an EGR or AIR pump?
maybe A/C comp?
Could be anything really when you think about it. Do you see the p/s lines and resevoir? Maybe it's JUST the pump?

 

It says power steering fluid. I'm gonna check it once I get outside anyways
