Give me your honest review of the [Kumho Ecsta MX] please.
I'm looking for personal experiences of the Kumho Ecsta MX, please tell me everything about it.
Mileage, traction, wet traction, weight, cornering, sounds anything that you could think of.
Please have had or still using the tire to tell me. Not stuff that you heard thru the grapevine.
I'm in need of tires really bad and would like to try these but unsure if they will fit my needs, My needs are to grip the road as good or better then the Azenis. I would just like to try different tires if worthy.
ITR owners only, not to be a PIA but to know how they work on a specific car
And if you know of a specific site that has a good deal, post the link.
Thanks!
I forgot more about hondas then you will ever know....

well, i have never driven on them, but witnessed someone in STS at a national tour beat down all the Azenis shod cars with the kumho mx. so, they can't be that bad
edit: sorry, this wasn't on a ITR, but still STS is a highly contested class.

tirerack is also low/out of stock, but should be getting more soon (sometime early september).. everything I have read/seen about these tires points to them being lighter than the azenis.. hopefully my winter tires have enough tread to pass safety so I can wait for these tires to be available.
I ran them couple weeks ago at Buttonwillow. Worked great for me. No chunking, even at full tread in 100ºF+ SoCal desert for two days.
These were 205/40R17 which Kumho states as 'reinforced', so I'm not sure if they'd handle/feel the same for other sizes.

shi - who'd buy these again

now.. few thousand miles later its worth it over s-03's.. - but only due to price difference.

I've had them on my gsr for about three thousand miles. I've had no problems with them. They were a little noisy at low speeds but I don't notice it anymore. They are 205 50 15 and I have them on my stock wheels. The side wall tends to fold over during very hard cornering. I think I just need a wider wheel. I think the grip is very good for the price. Much better than stock. I used them for auto cross in the rain and only broke loose once ( it was my first auto cross). Overall I think you will be happy with them for everyday driving. If your using them for the track I don't know. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reviews so far
, Btw I will be or might be using them on Rotas (15x6.5).
SO does anyone else have any thoughts?

i was comparing some that was on a r today to my azenis and they don't look like it.

I use MX as my "street" tire and the azenis as "race tire. I have about ~1000 miles on the MX and I really like them alot. Grip is quite good, but not up to the azenis yet. I hear from sources the tires really come into their own after about half depth. I do think steering response is better than azenis though. They are quite good in the rain (definitely better than the azenis), a little quieter, and Id guess 2-3 lbs lighter, enough to feel easily.
I was reading on sccaforums the other day, it appears the a few of the top STS/STX guys are buying MX's and shaving them, and kicking azenis shod cars butts...b/c the MXs jus keep getting better the hotter they get, whereas the azenis get very 'greasy' when hot.
I have yet to get the MX out on the track or autoX, though I want to.
My $.02, get the MX if you are going to run mainly street. Get the azenis if you are going track only...just be prepared to hose em down between runs to keep them cool.
Oh, and just to add...the MX are not quite as wide as the azenis, but they ARE wider than most other 205 section tires IMHO.

I have my MX for about 1000 miles now also and I really like them. For the cost, I'd buy them again over S-03's. They feel like they grip as well as the S-03. A couple of weeks ago, I also had them out at Buttonwillow for a day and during the first run, they felt really greasy. As the day wore on and the temps started to climb, they felt more composed. The greasy feeling might also be due to them being really new with only 500 miles on them, thus having a lot of tread squirm. Overall, I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a good street tire that can also hold its own on the track.
