Default Can you switch 02 sensors?

Are the 02 sensors on a 98 civic interchangable between the front and the back? Also does anyone have a cheap used honda one?

The part #'s are indeed different, as is the price, with the 2nd O2 being more expensive. The only difference between the two, visibly, is the insulative jacket on the 2nd O2.

well it would make sense for them to be different. Because one is tuned for before the cat, and one for after...

They are indeed different internally, AFAIK.

they cannot be changed form front to back. One is a o2 sensor and the rear one is a monitor sensor. If you switch them then you will get a cel

So then the car doesn't have 2 o2 sensors. IT has one and then a monitor sensor? So if i get a cel for a o2 sensor it must be the front?

no not neccesarily. Just check for a proper voltage sweep when the car is hot from the 02's

I have switched them and the car ran fine . I think the reason for the different number is the plug for the floor and the wires are shorter but I do know it worked in my 99 si and we did it to another 99 si and no problems .
