Default Low Speed Noise

I'm noticing that when i'm taking off slowly like in 1st, i hear like a rubbing noise, sounds like its coming from the transmission, this only happens when i'm going real slow. I also hear it say when i'm going through a parking lot in 2nd gear when i'm coming to a crawl. Anybody have any experience with this or maybe knows what it is? Only other problem i'm having is a grinding going into 5th at high speeds, like above 5k rpm, no other gear grinds or anything, 5th doesn't even do it till i'm like above 5k rpm. And 1 more thing, , i got around 270 miles on my current tank, with some hard pretty hard driving and highway driving, this sound about right? Thanks guys.

Sometimes brakes will make a very very quiet metalic scraping sound @ low speeds... You may want to jack the car up on turn the wheels yourself to see if you can reproduce the sound.

5th gear issue is likely a syncro.... (what did you do to that poor transmission???)

270 miles sounds about right....

I just got the car, so i didn't do anything to it. If it was the synchros wouldn't it be doing it all the time, i mean it shifts perfectly smooth in every gear at any rpm, except in 5th after 5k. Could it be like a tranny fluid issue?

Each gear has it's own syncro. It sounds like the syncro for 5th gear isn't doing very well. If you try shifting slower you probably won't grind the gear. You could try changing the fluid... if the old stuff is junk then it might cause that type of problem. Most people on here recommend Honda MTF... buy 3 quarts and funnel with a hose on it.

aight i'll change the fluid and see what happends. Any idea about the rubbing noise when i'm taking off slowly. I really only notice it when i'm taking off slowly like at a stoplight in traffic. Anybody ever had that happen?
