CTR Pistons with GSR.
With CTR pistons in a GSR block with GSR head , i heard the compression was about 13:1 .. They guy that had that set up had to retard his timmming to 12 degress and run 101 or 92 and VP mix only, cus it would ping and knock at higher rpm.

it's fine. it's very streetable providing you tune the setup.
search, there's easily 300 pages about this.

It's NOT 13.0:1
Take a 10 points off of that, cus it's 12.04:1
Stock bore CTR pistons, stock headgasket, no milling or decking...I ran it fine on pump gas with just a tiny bit of low-end ping, that I easily tuned out later..
Now, if you run .25over CTR pistons in an LS/VTEC, with milled head, then you can easily get 13.0:1, but it's more likely you'll be around 12.7:1 w/o milling and stock headgasket..

Tweak, in the R forum there is a thread about CTR pistons in a C5 and it has been said that compression would be around 12.5. Is that incorrect? I have always figured that CTR pistons in a C1 would be around 12.1.

the GS-R and ITR heads are different. GSR will yield higher compression than ITR with CTR pistons.
I don't know why SgT said to use b16 pistons in an ITR other than for tuning reasons. Depending on where you are the setup is going to need extensive tuning. To me CTR pistons in a B18C1 is the "ultimate" street setup without going crazy.

C-speed calc says 12.05, although I believe it is closer to 12.5
Bottom line: does it really matter? Drop them in and make some power. If you want more, go for more.

Can you use the standard bore CTR's with the GSR stock bore?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yes but anytime your switching pistons, especially a high Compression or FI setup I'd suggest going to the next size up and Boring/Honing the block Vs just honing the block and dropping in some same bore pistons.
Compression with Stock bore or .25 over on a GSR will be about 12.4-12.5:1
Perfectly streetable with 91octane & up,with a little tuning.
