Default 2 subs off a one channel amp?

I have a rockford amp, it's a one channel amp, but i have two subs. I was told that you can do something to make it work. What exactly do you do?

Yes, how many voice coil are your subs and how many ohms each? Also, what ohm load can your amp handle?

I don't know too much about this stuff, but on the box it says Impedance: 4 or 8 with symbol after each number.

I don't know where to find out about the voice coils that you were talking about. The amp's box says that the maximum power is 400 watts, 4 Ohm Load mono-100watts, 2 Ohm Mono-200 watts. Like I said, I don't know too much about this stuff. If anyone knows a lot about rockford, the amp I have is called the 200M, and the 2 subs I have are Punch Z. I got the subs at the end of last year, and the amp the beginning of this year if that's any help.

Ok, so it sounds like your amp is 2 ohm stable and the sub it dual 4 ohm perhaps.
How many terminals are on the sub? where you plug the wires onto the sub, are there 4 terminals or 2 like a normal speaker?
If there are 4 it is a dual voice coil sub which will give you more options when wiring two of them up.

I think the box would say DVC if it was dual. Where it says 4 or 8 ohm, are there boxes next to it like one would be checked? I just checked quick and they seem to either come in 4 or 8, not DVC, so I don't know.

Ok, I just opened the the box. On the back of the sub it says 1.5" voice coil, 4 ohms, and 400 watts max power. I hope that helps some..

Also, on the little paper that came in the box, it has like model numbers I guess, and there are two choices for the same sub. I guess that means that it's it varies depending on how many subs are hooked up to one amp. For the two numbers it has nominal impedance of 8 for one and 4 for the other. I opened the box that the amp is in, and it doesn't say anything about using more than one sub, however when I bought it they said it could be used for more than one. I'm just not sure how. Lemme know. thanx

Sure two-4 ohm v/c woofers give you a 2 ohm load on the amp. I dont believe a Rockford mono amp would have a problem with that.

Ok, so now i know it will work, but I still have no clue how to hook it all up. Do most people do it themselves?

SImple.

Speaker 1 + to Speaker 2+ to the amp + and the same with the - or negative side.
That is called parallel.

Two 4 ohm subs can be wired in parallel, this will present the amp with a two ohm load which your amp should be able to handle.
Best to wire the subs like this: http://www.jbl.com/car/support...2.asp
