best way to lower, w/o eating tires?
ok it always seems like i have a tire eating problem no matter what, i bought some ground control coilovers w/ some koni yellow struts and ingalls camber kit... i did it all and my tires wear bad, i go to the shop they adj. my toes on my car, still doesnt work, i put washers in the rear it helped a little but i still see that my car has uneven wear, what is the best suspension set-up that will not wear tires... ridin on 17's too.. thanx
damn that sucks...I'd try a different alignment shop, because with the camber kit, you should be able to align everything perfectly. However, i think with coilovers, if u constantly adjust the ride height, i'm sure that it will throw off your a alignment a little.
I have coilovers, and thats why i am keeping my stock 14" alloys = inexpensive tires.

true true, i am gettin ready to throw on the stock steelies and lower it, but when it come to car show time i put on the 17's and adj. all the way down..
Tire wear should be perfectly acceptable if the alignment place is putting your toe to spec and since you're a showboater- putting your camber to 0.
If not... something is wrong with your car or with your alignment shop.

i don't know what you are doing wrong. I have 17's that i'm trying to get rid of, but i have Koni yellows, ground control coilovers, ground control upper mounts, skunk2 front camber kit, ingalls rear camber kit and i have NO uneven tire wear. Either something is wrong with your car or alignment shop doesn't know what they are doing. It does sound like you are getting tire wear in the rear which is common with civics, my suggestion is to ditch the washers and get a real rear camber kit, either an ingalls or spc. That way the people at the alignment shop can adjust the rear camber properly.

Camber isn't what makes your tires wear excessively. It's the toe...goto a local alignment shop and have the toe set to 0. If the camber is bad that's what will throw your toe off and cause excessive wear. I wouldn't recomend dropping it more then 1.5 to 1.75" or else it will eventualy camber and toe out really bad. Ask anyone that auto-x's about toe versus camber.

what kind of tires are you using?... alot of times people seem to overlook what role the tires themselves play... its hard to get a tire that performs good that has good treadwear and on the other hand its hard to get a tire with good treadwear to handle well... to get one you have to sacrifice another... so lets say your alignment is perfect and you have a tire with a treadwear of 100... you would be buying new tires as many times as you go through a fast food line... try to keep this in mind the next time you buy a set of tires... dont just go buy tires because you "heard" they were good... all you need to know is written right on the sidewall for your convenience... hope this helps some
do you rotate your tires? i'd suggest a different alignment shop.
is your car slammed? camber kits can only adjust so much.

no my car isn't that slammed, i would say about 2.25'' all around.. and for my tires i HAD nitto 450's,, and they suck ***..i wouldnt recomend those to anyone one..but my Kuhmo's do pretty good
i recommend a Skunk2 Camber kit and a good alignment shop.
all lowered cars get camber wear, its just how severe, is the difference. you NEED some camber.

definitely camber kit. the only way. some camber is good for cornering but straight line performance is sacrificed.
but who cares about straight line ??
