In-car from Sheehan - you can't see it, but Vanni rolled multiple times.
I can understand racing incidents. And I know I'm well capable of making a stupid move. Seeing something like their incident reminds me that these things can kind of sneak up on you and then all of the sudden it's too late.
Both drivers were alright. Vanni will be building a new car I assume.

Scott, who really doesn't like the looks of some of the runoff there in Reno...

that is so sad. i saw both of those cars, as well as p. sharp's that also rolled in the same race, going at it at hyperfest @ california speedway. i got to snoop around the paddock - those were some really nice cars.
i am even more bummed, b/c i planned to buy sharp's roll cage (autopower 6 point) at the end of the season. i'm waiting to hear from him about how well it performed.
glad everyone escaped major injury.
Thats just F***ing stupid. Gary has every right to that chunk of track and Neil shouldn't have lost track of him but he admits that two wide through that corner is dicey and three is impossible.
Bottom line is the stage was set by the lapper who didn't see the faster cars coming up. Neil F***ed up by moving left into Gary's car but Gary also had an oppurtunity to not stuff his nose in there and make sure everyone made it through the corner.
I guess when you right your right, sometimes even to the point of "dead" right.

Patrick's cage held up great.
His new car will have a welded cage so I bet the old cage (pre-tested

i bet it is!
glad to hear it did it's job - most people here give the bolt-in's a bum rap. they may not be better than a custom job, but it is reassuring to know that they are adequate.
i will not however be buying a demo'd roll cage.

I watched that video many times and I will refrain from making many comments, since I am a newbie racer. But one thing caught my attention, and it's one thing we might be able to learn from.

I believe that the slow guy up front was driving his line. I was paying special attention to this, since I am often "that slow guy up front". In the Comp School a few weeks ago, one of the "instructors" Chip Stabler said, "The best thing you can do when being approached from behind by faster traffic is to stay on line. The guy catching you decided a long time ago where he's going to pass."
Thus I would place 0% blame on the lapped guy, based on what I can tell from the video. Just IMHO.

You may be right and I place little to no blame there but when he is caught he is in the middle of the track and seems to hesitate for a moment before turning into the corner. That hesitation is what I think caught Neil out.

I cannot stress how important this is to us w/ Higher HP... We expect to pass offline, not for them to alter their lines for us.. This caught me out at VIR N, where I thought a car was moving offline for me, I took the line for the pass, and he decided he wanted back online, needless to say, I have new tiremarks down my door.. I will only pass lappers offline, from now on..

Ditto
I had four options in the Sunday race...
1. Punt Corey
2. Punt the Miata
3. Pass the Miata on the outside (assuming he would stay on line)
4. Follow Corey on the inside
I chose option 3, as I filled up on the grasses of Hogpen. Needless to say, I should have chose 4.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Point Mike!
Many of the HC H4 and H5 guys have starting 'moving' to 'help' with faster cars closing quickly. Please don't. We will have you already lined up by the time we come up on you...... just DON'T move!
IMO- If the slower guy 'wants to help' and has room.... simply 'breath' the car as we pass and no one will get slowed up much. This is how I attempted to deal with the fast guys last year.
Example- CMP last year. Jack started coming up fast on the back straight. I kept the hammer down until he caught me on the Auto-X section. I simply pointed then lifted for a moment and tucked in behind him. This cost us both very little time.
I really hope this will be discussed at LENGTH during the small bore meeting at LOWES!
Good luck this weekned!
Be Careful and give one another room!!!!!!!!
The walls don't give much.

No, that was a 99 Si. This looks to be a 92-95 coupe. I wonder what the specs are of this thing??
