Default stick with b16 turbo or go ls/vtec turbo?

so i already have a b16a II running a t28 turbo with hks manni msd ignition, etc. and i was wondering if it would be worth it to but an ls shortblock and swap that in place of my b16 block? i see a lot better numbers for 1.8 engines than b16s, and it really wouldn't be that expensive to do, or difficult. everything is already wired for vtec so all i would really have to do is add an oil line for the vtec right? how much could i get a b16 bareblock for? what about a b18b shortblock? thanks for the info!

hmm.. that would be a whole nother swap

wouldnt you need new axles, ecu, mounts, etc.

alot of money just to up the displacement.

i'd say just have your current motor built up to handle more boost.

ya thats what i was thinking of doing. but i wouldn't need new axles(i think) because i will be using the b16a tranny, and im already running a gsr ecu on it so thats no prob. the mounts are the same, and if i did the swap with stock pistons i would have a pretty low cr wich should be pretty good for higher boost.

but isn't the whole purpose of the Ls/Vtec to give the Ls Block higher compression ? If so U should just stay with the B16 Turbo and buy some lower compression pistons for it. just my opinion

I hve to agree, I thought people were doing the ls/vtec's for the low end torque and the high end vtec power. i'd have to say stick with what you've got, it'd be a waste of money time and money to remove the engine, buy a block, do all the extra work to the ls engine sure you've already got the head...but.
If you want that low end power, why not just bore out what you've got?
