ok so as you all know that once you start getting fast, you can't stop. thats why i decided to swap out my seemingly tiard b16 (jdm sirII) for a pretty healthy b18a. i will be using the golden eagle LS/Vtec conversion kit to make it simple, which i will also write a review on when im done. im running an hks cast manifold with a tiard t28 attached. i have gsr cams in my head, and am running the safc hack with 450s. im using msd 6a ignition along side a msd external coil with new bkr7e plugs. full 2.5 inch exhaust, hks intake, small intercooler, ~10 psi. with the previous setup i was pushing 188hp with 164 tq at 8-10psi. note that i am at 5,300 ft so the corrected HP was said to be ~230 with 199tq.

so what sort of gains should i expect by switching to the ls block?
what have you guys seen with the same upgrade?
what sort of sound difference is there? not much with turbo?

um why didn't you just get some real management and turn the boost up? unless your gonna build the ls/vtec your still limited by the stock internals

i plan to switch to uberdata soon. and right now i can't affor forged internals, i was just curious to what gains just the added displacement would get me. i plan to buy another b18 bareblock and build it myself in the machine shop here, sleeved and bulletproof. anyone have some thoughts

When I switched to a LS/Vtec turbo from my B16 turbo it was a whole diffrent car...the power range was diffrent, it sounded a little diffrent, and was a hell of alot more fun to drive. check sig for times.

:evil grin: awesome, i think i might gain a little more than expected since i think my engine is hurtin, maybe a little blowby mainly. whats your full mod list?

Not a whole lot of insight but a close friend of mine picked up 7mph from 123 to 130 just by swapping from a B16a to a B18a. same compression, same boost.

My setup was pretty simple, max-rev manifold, DP, turbo(t3/t4 57 trim) with 450 DSM's and a vafc to control it. I ran 9psi and the car just loved it.

are you running forged stuff, or stock internals? im building my ls/vtec now when i noticed a water pump bolt was snapped off, just great.

Bone Stock internals. The only thing is ARP head studs.

ok bump, almost ready to do the swap. got the golden eagle kit and must say that it looks sweet! can't wait for it to be done. also on the checklist is porting the turbo, changing feed lines to stainless steel. all new lines, its gonna be good.
