Default 89 civic 4dr lx won't start

ok so i went to tune up this junkbox and well the timing belt was too big and i thought i smashed some valves so i put my spare d16a6 head onto the d15b2 block and since i couldn't find the timing marks i set piston #1 to tdc along with the valves. So i went to start it, it ran for maybe 5 seconds, then stopped, sounded really rough. I noticed the gas was below empty so i put more in, tried again, didn't work, then i sprayed starter fluid in the intake and it ran even longer maybe 15 seconds this time. This ho has 237,xxx miles on it and i noticed the pcv nipple deal sticking out of the manifold was clogged i unclogged it, put it back on. It smelled like gas when i was cranking so i believe its getting gas, so whats the problem anyone know?
