advantages of a cam gear?

advantages of a cam gear?
What will a cam gear do for a single cam performance wise? i know that if you advance the gear it will make you quicker, and if you retard it it will make you have better top end. am i right?

Isn't that the truth. You will notice a subtle change, more in the advance than the retard. IMHO advance the gear a couple of degrees, that will bring your powerband down a bit and let you have the feeling of a bit more power down low.
