Default The black stuff in the front bumper..

I'm installing some foglights soon, after I get the front bumper painted (and those license plate holes removed.)

1) Should I also 'shave' or 'remove' the 'Acura Emblem'?
2) Should I cut that black stuff off of the front bumper. Eventually (read: hopefully) there will be an intercooler behind there someday.. does it look bad if it's just the radiator or..? And does the black stuff come off easily? Do you cut it/pry it off?

Dank.

1. Shaving is cool, but if it's not done in the back also, it may look a little funny.

2. You can remove the black stuff by cutting with a dremel, then sand out the sharp(er) edges. Be careful. I have no clue if it'll look bad with just a radiator..but it would look good with a grill.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I like the grill look all that much. I think it would look out of place with an otherwise stock Integra.

I'm wondering if I should take the black stuff off because I'm getting the bumper painted. So I could rip the black stuff off and have it painted all nice and smooth.

1) How does the guy paint around the 'A' symbol? I can't imagine he masks the whole thing off.. does he take it off and glue it back on?

2) Any other suggestions? Any pics of grill inserts?

He's supposed to take the symbol off along with any glue residue that's left behind.

Leave the black stuff on until you get the turbo...or better yet, leave it on when you get the turbo. It's all personal preference.

The question I have about the black stuff then, if I'm taking it off later, is how much **** is still left on the bumper after you take it off? Is it screwed in, glued in, melted on..... how easy and clean is the removal of the 'black stuff'?

Alright.. when you take off the black stuff how is it done? Does it screw in to the bumper somehow, or is it glued on, or what?

So as far as removing it, how easy/hard is it...?

the black stuff is part of the bumper cover.... take off your bumper, its only like 15 or so screwsand a few bolts.. you can get it off in about 10 min. or less.. take it off look at and see what you think... the black stuff has to be cut out, so if you do it, do a good job, and make it neat, smooth everything out then have it painted... if you put mesh grilling behind it, it should look good!!! your preference...

peacee

Yeah.. so, if I'm getting the bumper painted now I guess it would be wise to take the black stuff off and have it painted professionally.

As for a grill insert, any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with grill inserts at all.. are there any websites, pics?

My foglights won't interfere with the grill at all will it?

Geez, I just searched and the prices I saw were reeally expensive. Like $150+ for a grill insert?

I think I'll cut it off now, paint it, install the foglights.. and have it look kinda ghetto until the intercooler. Or I could get the intercooler now and the turbo later..

silver, black or white. $100-130. actually fits over (if you left it) all the black stuff so won't affect foglights.

So the grill insert would also be in front of my foglights?

I don't think so... the grill's not for me.

go to home depot get wire mesh used for concrete work... cut it to the correct size and figure out a way to fasten it to the inside of the bumper to cover the oppening... alot cheaper than grille craft, and i think it looks alot better too!!

Yeah, but I don't want the grill to cover the foglights I just spent $180 on.

How bad will it look with the black stuff gone, and just the foglights and a radiator sitting there?

Well, I get the mesh grill now and then it's no use when I have the intercooler there.

Don't get that mesh crap, spend $100-$130 on something useful.
