oil catch can setup for Ls/Vtec
just like the topic says....i did a search and on all the post no one said what motor or setup they had. i plan on getting a greddy catch can, and i need to know how it goes....im thinking it would all be the same. sorry for the stupid question. thanks in advance
what it does is simply catch unwanted stuff in your oil that gets recycled back. I would assume that if it works for FI cars, it'll work just as well for NA's. I'm thinking of getting one myself but I've noticed from my friends weekend race car that he actually fills the Greddy reservoir quick. I'd hate to keep on draining that thing since I'm using my car daily and can't afford to run out of oil on my lsvtec. I change my oil before it gets real dirty anyway so I think that's good enough for me. Just my 2 cents.
They will benefit any performance engine as oil vapor in your intake charge has a "leaning" effect.
I know I prevent a lot of oil from entering my LS with the original ENDYNE setup.

you can run the stock PCV system if you have a b18a block, because they have the air water seprators on the back of the block and the pcv system mimics the pcv system that is on the back of all of the DOHC VTEC motors.
now, the b18b blocks is a diffrent story. they have no air water seprator on the back so they have a completely diffrent pcv system as compared to its vtec counterpart. What i did for my motor is that i ran a pcv system similar to Endyn's 2.0 monster.
See here i have a b18b block, i have the vented gas going out of the filter, i do not run this set up anymore, because of the horrible smell at stop lights. i now have a pcv filter that sits right where this filter sits on the top of the catch can, with a vacum hose coming off it going to the intake manifold. i dont think i have any pictures of it. anyway if you have any questions PM jazzyfoo (thats me, i am on my buddies screen name right now)

Endyn's breather kit
I'm running it plus another one(cusco)for the 2 from valve cover.Unless you're planning to make alot of power 2 catch cans are over kill.

FYI:
I get alot of **** for running the set up that is pictured above. But i must insist this set up is only nessesary for OBD II b18b blocks. Because i have no stock pcv system, with out this i was blowing oil out my valve cover gasket because all the pressure was building up at idle when the pressure had no place to go.

You can go ahead and read about my install and see how it is beneficial on the track:

An oil cooler + catch can would be the best. One doesnt help the other, its the positive crankcase pressure that causes the blowby that the catch cans are used for, not oil temps.
