Chipped p30
I have a 1992 Civic HB with a B16A SiR 2 and I recently bought a p30 ecu, which the guy claims is chipped. At first he told me it was a skunk 2 chip, but vtec is supposed to kick in at i think 4500 rpms and mine is kickin in at 5800 i told him that and he said well maybe it is the spoon chip then...I think the mugen kicks in at 5800 too...I don't know when the spoon kicks in...is he just tryin to sell me a p30 with no chip? How can I tell? I am afraid to take my car past 8200 because one I have a restricted license and cannot and two my motor isn't built so I don't want to blow the motor...thanks
i guess this thread should be posted in the EG forum...not this one. But what i would do is open up the ECU by taking off the cover and look around for a sticker or some kind of marking on top of a little square (the chip itself). I know where the chip is but its hard to describe to u where it is. But most of the time there is a marking/sticker on top of an aftermarket chip.
