Default Aftermarket thermostat?

Does anyone have a low temp thermostat on there car? I ordered one and just wanted to know what results people had. Does actually register a lower temp on the stock temp gauge or will it only help if you have aftermarket radiator and such. It seems to me unless the cooling system is to good for the car the LTT(low temp thermo) would only make the car take longer to warm up initially and then run around the same temp. Opposite situation I had a fluidyne on a 92 civic si and after installing it the temp needle never moved at all stayed rock solid no matter how hot it was(I live in PHOENIX) but I imagine it had the capabilties of dropping the needle some if I would have installed a LTT. I hope all that made some kind of sense and I hope I didn't waste my ten bucks.

low temp thermostat will make a difference....and it will show up on the temp needle....if you are using the stock radiator.....

On my fluidyne.... during normal city driving....it stays at the normal op. temp. My friend's got the stock rad and it juss moves up and down no matter where we go.....

I think it is because the water pump has to circulate more hot water now.....and during normal driving...it doesn't shed enough heat because the pump isn't going fast enough and the car isn't going fast enough....

but once I STOMP on it ....the temp drops before steadying out again. On the track I run with the heat all the way to HOT and the fan on "1"

The only other time it drops is when I'm coasting downhill...still in gear listening to my exhaust go "pop pop pruupppppppppopop pop pop..."

"pop pop pruupppppppppopop pop pop..." O.K. Good. I wasn't sure if I was the only Honda that made that noise... Is this a sign of running to rich at part-throttle? hmm...

I think it is due to the fact the car is fitted with a testpipe and straight through exhaust system.

I do notice a lot of black soot on the rear tip and ...well all over the bumper, rear hatch and the tip of my wing...!!

EeeK!
