I have heard a couple of teg owners complain about this but whats wrong with my antenna!!! It makes a horrible noise when i turn on the cassetter player (soon to be explode cd player) and when i turn it off , anybody have a similiar situation.
This should have been the first question i asked when i first joined this site. Can Anybody offer any help or advice to end this embarassment ????

haha, you mean....brrrrrrr pop pop pop pop!!?? its the motor still trying to pull the antenna down and slipping on the teeth on the plastic cord inside your antenna. It must have slipped a few teeth and is now "uncalibrated".
That happened to me too, i got a new antenna from pepboys and it did it too! if you cant stand it, get a new acura one, stay away from the cheap autoshop replacements!

What would be the best solution would i still get frequency without an atenna if i do go the acura route how much am i looking to pay i dont want to spend to much on this problem???
Well...you do still get signal with the antenna down, however its not that good. You could replace it with your everyday cheap antenna from an auto parts store, but it might not look or work as well. If you were to go to acura, it would cost you way too much. For example, I bought the little plastic pocket for under the stereo...it cost me 30 bucks...not the best deal ever. Good luck on finding a solution.

Same problem here. I keep it lubed / cleaned with WD 40 every month or so. If it gets "uncalibrated" I just pull it out / push it in by hand to reset it, and then clean it again. I also put in a switch so I can stop it from doing it when it is a problem (when it gets cold).
I recently had to replace my antenna. The part from my acura dealer cost $30 and it's really easy to install. I replaced mine because it had gotten broken, but before I replaced it was also starting to make some pretty bad noises. I don't have any of those noises anymore with the replacement antenna in. Spend the 30 bucks and install it yourself. It's a quick, easy, and cheap solution.
