how to wire up the fans for manual switch on
hey my car's cooling fan doesnt come on by itself. im thinking it would be cheaper and better to wire in my own switch. so where do i find the main power line to the fan.
Find the CTS on the back of the block. It should have 2 wires running to it and a rasonably lage boot covering it. Upper left of your oil filter.
Turn the ignition on and use a paperclip or whatever to connect the 2 wires. If your fan comes on then your relay is good.
Then run a wire from any ground or your negative battery terminal. Connect it to each wire and find out which of the 2 wires it has to be connected to to turn the fan on.
Now what you do is run that ground /neg battery wire to your switch.
Then run the other wire from the switch back to whichever wire you hooked the ground to to get the fan to run.
Viola! A remote fan switch.
However if you hook up the 2 cts wires and the fan doesnt come on you'll have to find a way to bypass the relay, I sugest search.

that seems like a good way to test the ralay, but im sure there is an easier way to wire in the switch, such as one of the main positive wires that go into the fan itself. any way also to check if the stock mechanism thats supposed to turn on the fan is good? where can i buy a replacement if its not?
