Default Help me decide on my R's exhaust.

These are the requirements and the realistic facts,

I know that the exhaust will not help the car gain much HP "close to if any 1-2 HP."

I DO NOT WANT ANYTHING MUCH LOUDER THAN THE OEM SETUP!

I plan on staying N/A and here is my I&H; i have a Comptech "icebox" and will be installing my Spoon 4-2-1 and Carsound cat.

I'm not ready for internals and I know that I don't need anything bigger than 2.5" catback!

So with that said what are the options that would fit my R and my criteria? Comptech? Mugen Twinloop? What???

Thanks for the info guys,

A.

PS and now I'm just bored and sick of using the search option so SUE ME!!! But any help would be much appreciated.

Mike,
and what of the sound? You know I'm a stealth guy and don't want to attract any Lawmen or kids at the local Gas-N-Go. A nicer deeper tone and limited HP is what I'm lookin for. Is the diameter of that unit the same as the cat you're sending? Whats the $ and is it in, or are you taking orders for the future?

Thanks,

A.

Mugen, Spoon Sport type, Greddy SP is surprisingly quiet and lastly Kakimoto R setup has a great tone to it. Sounds awesom on my WRX but on the highway I can't tell it's any different than stock.

I've heard that hytech has a nice twinloop 2.5" design that is nice and quiet - i think vagoitr has it and the comments are that it is very quiet and a nice power gain with the hytech header...

There are 3 Kakimoto models, N12000, OZ, and a R.

I'm thinking of getting a universal Kakimoto N12000 muffler can and welding it with a 2.5" SS T-304 piping. I'm hoping it will sound just as good as the full system from Kak.

** I saw the Kakimoto R (muffler with the blue sticker) on an ITR a few days ago. Looks really good! Performs really good??! I don't know not many people have Kak in Toronto.

So the answer is probably in the $1000. range, be it the Mugen, Spoon, Hitech Eh? Well thats what I expected for this post. Now at this leval all of these will perfornm equally right? Well with the exception of the Hitech I presume?

What about the Comptech setup? is that worth it as compared to the Greddy?

I do like the idea of the Spoon to match my Header so that does have a shot but, what differences, gains, benefits are between the Mugen and Spoon? And is there any benefit to attach the Spoon catback to the spoon header "of course with the cat in place silly!"

Thanks,

A.

Edwin, the GT1 OZ is not for Hondas but is available for WRX. The Kakimoto R is my personal favorite. I love mine.

itr0032, glad you like the comptech! it fits very well . . . and i really liked the sound of it on my R as well.

my 'new' thermal 60mm catback is loud as hell. i'm thinking of getting another comptech axle-back and modifying the stock b-pipe...

What's up with the SMS or Hytech exhausts? Are they very quiet? I read in another thread that the SMS exhaust is fairly inexpensive.

Heard later this year they will be making a OZ version for the ITR. I felt the WRX OZ holy cow the catback only weights 7KG (14 lbs!).

I like the Kak R better the N1 style, N1 looks too pimpin'
