I'm sure there's some of you who have old computers lying around that you don't use any more. My parents' e-mail/word processing computer died couple days ago. My friend tested it out & says that motherboard is dead. I'm just looking for cheap replacement, probably no more than $40-50.
My only requirements are:
1) Computer must be fully functional.
2) I should have mini tower because that's all we have room for.
3) CPU should be @ least PII. I'd like to try & run Windows XP on it.
I don't need any peripherals since all of old ones still work. However, I won't complain if you want to include them.
If you have something that meets this description, IM me w/ your phone number. If possible, I'd like to come by over weekend to check it out. Thanks for your help, gang.

One of lab techs @ work was able to pick up complete low end PIII for $60, so I didn't think $40 was unreasonable. Also, as I mentioned earlier, I don't need any additional hardware. You can keep your disk drives, sound cards, modem, etc. I just need motherboard, CPU, & case. All I've got is AT case. I think everything PII & beyond requires ATX case.

I'll sell you a Tyan Tsunami motherboard with a PII 350 Mhz processor and 64 MB of PC100 RAM with an ATX case but NO power supply for $65.00. I'll even throw in a Diamond Stealth 4MB video card.

That sounds acceptable. Where in LA are you located? My parents are in Monterey Park. I get off work pretty late, so I may not be able to take look @ it until this coming weekend. In meantime, do you have any other specs on motherboard? Does it have USB? What kinds of RAM will it support? Is your video card AGP?

I live in Atwater Village by Los Feliz (Boundary of L.A. and Glendale). Yes, the board has a dual USB connection and it will support PC100 RAM. The Diamond Stealth video card is a first generation AGP. Check the Tyan website for a complete spec of this motherboard. http://www.tyan.com/products/h....html
