gutted interior affect noise levels?
I want to gut my interior but my car is already a little loud and it is toying with my hearing... at higher speeds, I have to put my radio on full blast to hear anything, and its still not loud enough....
when you gutted your interior, did it make the car louder inside the cabin? did it change the sound of your speakers?, do you have rear speakers? do you have hatch or crx?
I mainly want to guy my interior so I don't have to drive people around, and a little weight savings never hurt anyone

It will greatly increase the road noise. If you get a sticky set of tires like Azenis' you will hear a shower of pebbles from the rear wheel wells. EF interior is not that heavy. I would never gut it unless its a race only car.
stripped CRX echos like hell, want an example go stand in the shower with the door closed and make any noise at all, its like that... but worse

i gutted my ef and it did go quicker its true.. i put all the **** back in to transport it from my friends garage one day and i swear it seemed like it lagged so bad, so it does make a difference despite what people say. and yes it does make the inside really loud but yet for me i love it as well, it sounds rad when you punch it. it doesnt bug on the highway unless your doin like 4xxx rpms which for me is never. and once in a while youll hear little rocks hitting the undercarriage but i always did. even before. i also did it so i didnt have to drive all packed down i hate that.
and if you dont like the way it looks from the outside in just tint the windows like i am.

Try no interior plastic panels , no tar sound proofing, no carpet, no door panels.
Loud as loud can get, but I love it.

all i have left to remove is the tar, and the door panels. and the headliner. im going to remove the dash and its contents when i swap and ill mount the guage cluster on top of the steering column. its gonna be great. a stick a wheel and a seat.

With just the trunk, and seats gutted I ended up wearing earplugs on the way to the track. The rear speakers sounds like crap without the fold-down seats in place and the spare tire cover panel in place.
I think a tenth faster on my 1/4 mile time isn't worth it. On the plus side, I could hear the rear brakes engaging and swishing.

i see no downside to gutting your interior, a tenth will mean a win in some cases and i love winning it feels nice. no matter by how much i dont care. even though i disagree with 99.9 percent of all things fast and furious i do agree with the little quote about winning.. i think its very logical and very true. thats how its always been done.

try running an AN-R header no cat and a 2.5in side exit exhaust spitting flames with no interior no panels no tar hell even no door glass during a 50 minute commute in traffic
What about gutting your interior & fitting sound proofing to your floor? I have no idea how much sound proofing weighs but surely not as much as the trim your taking out? That way, you'll lose a bit of weight and not go deaf in the process.
Theres already sound deadening, I just took mine out, total weight around 20lbs. If you redeaden it with new material it will weight about 5lbs and block sound 10x better.

Heheh, kind of defeats the purpose... sound deadening is at least as heavy as the actual plastic interior pieces themselves.
I stripped the sound deadening and I have had no interior for about 10,000 km's now. I also have no carpeting; I figured it was dumb to pretend it was still 'luxury' and have carpet and yet have the rear interior stripped to heck.
It's not that loud, actually. At freeway speeds the radio gets a little inaudible but that's just wind noise from the open windows anyway. What REALLY is loud is when it rains, all the water spraying off the car's body.
Oh, and I commute 45 mins in bumper-to-bumper daily

Hey Baz you worded that a bit wrong you mean with a full interior and with your passenger seat still bolted in you fit a passenger side door inside your car!!
So when you going to be over so we can go get the other door??!!
