Default wheels won't fit on my car

okay, so i decided to put my freinds rota's on my crx, so i buy new tires for them,
and take them up to the tire shop, drop them off, tell him to mount them up, and fix my alignment.

i just get a call.

"your wheels wont fit on the front they are rubbing the caliper, your going to need a spacer, he then tells me that my frame is bent and they cant align my car.

WTF they aligned my car 6 months ago without any problems, car has never been wrecked before, supposedly my tie rods are bent.

does anybody have 16 inch rota subzeros on there crx si? with 40mm offset?

tell me im not stoned or drunk because i have had these wheels on my car before without any problems.

i would just go down there and get your car back, they have no right to hold your car from you. If the car has not been in a accident i believe that these bastards are lying to you and you need to get your **** back before they mess it up

Strangely enough the story hits close to home, I brought my CRX into a shop and they told me the same thing! My frame was bent, could not align my car..they even told me my rim was bent, and that particular rim has never had an opportunity to get bent. I was freaking out til the guy at the shop asked me if I wanted to sell my motor and rims. I promptly yoked the punk and took my CRX to another shop who aligned it without a problem, and I got tires on the rim about a week later so it was obviously not bend either. I stand corrected:The actual link off of the rack is being called the "inner tie rod" and is a replaceable piece..
If this pic works it looks like this:

ive met him before i coudl see him beating the crap out of you. Anyway...

Just jack it up look at it. i seriously doubt they are bent, especially if you havent done anything to make them bent, those things are pretty beefy. They also bend a little bit stock, maybe that guy doesnt have a clue about what he was saying.

just take it somewhere else

They probably didnt want to give you your car back because of a liability thing. If its bent, you drove off and got in an accident because of it, they could be help liable. Probably just looking out for everybody, and you could of had your car towed with no problem from them at all. But you never know. Hope you get your **** back together.

I dont know what the prices are at your honda dealership but around here its only $45 for an alignment, plus they do a visual inspection of all suspension components. I took mine in there and the toe/camber was fucked in the rear and they even showed me what was wrong. I dunno, just depends on the place, **** the shop you went to.

he explained that to me and i told him thats not going to work out, if i need to sign something i can. he was like no we cant do that , thats when i went ape **** on him. after i talked to the store manager he said well if ur willing to sign a waiver than we can let you take it i was like WTF and told him that if dumbass rep would of said that in the beginning i wouldnt be going off the deepend like this.

as far as towing it goes, i wouldnt mind them towing it as long as im not having to pay for it, but that wasnt the case so **** em.

im finally chill about the whole situation, i think the guy was either too lazy to fix it or just on crack, im going to jack it up tommorow check everything out make sure nothing is messed up and if thats the case take it somewhere else.

the only way a shop can legally keep your car is if they work on it, and you don't pay them. they can take out a mechanic's lien against you. as far as your tie rods being bad, it's possible, they do go bad sometimes. on the inner tie rod, sqeeze the joint through the boot. if you feel any play, it's bad. on the outer end, if there's any up and down play in the ball joint it's bad. if you put a straight edge along the tie rod, and it's not straight, it's bad. unless you have a camber kit, the only thing you can adjust as far as alignment on a honda is toe. you can do that with two pieces of plywood and two tape measurers. if you do have a camber kit, then you can set your camber with a small bullet level. set camber first, then toe, because camber will change toe. it's not going to be as accurate as taking the car somewhere and having an alignment done, but it will work. now see, not all mechanics are lazy ********. hope this helps.
