oil cap not screwed in, mess on engine...
My oil filler cap was loose and i stupidly
got oil all over the driver side of the engine last night. There was alot of it on the master cylinder, motor mount, some on the timing belt cover... Fortunately i didn't drive like this for long. I cleaned up as much as I could see with shop towels... I have a race tomorrow and we're leaving tonight. Is there anything I should be taking apart to clean, or is this no big deal? Since I had just added oil, I know that less than half a pint total had been spilled. I'm at the office today and can't get to the car until later anyway. Thanks.

Not as far as I know, something similar happened to me.
My dipstick tube came loose and oil squirted everywhere for quite a while before I figured out what had happened - I thought I had just spilled a lot of oil on my header.
Nothing bad happened, and that was a long time ago.

Only if it sits on rubber parts for an extended period of time (like months or years).

Cover your distributor with a plastic bag. Spray full strength simple green everywhere in your engine bay. Wait 5-10 minutes then rinse it all off with your water hose. Let it dry and you are in business.

Better yet. Get one of those garden sprayer things - fill with simple green, attach hose and have at it.

This stuff kicks *** as well....
I think it works better than Simple Green. Believe that it's safe with paint, but you've got to watch out for contact with aluminum. It'll etch it for sure. Used wisely, it's great stuff.

It may be safe with paint, but its not safe with wax, therefore making your painted fender look like *** until you polish/wax it again. Stick with simple green.
