use your dipstick to check your oil level... it's the little stick poking out from inbetween your exhaust manifold... You oil filler cap is on the TOP of you engine oil drains down to the BOTTOM of your engine. So you will NEVER see oil up there.
YES TOO MUCH OIL IS BAD BAD BAD. It can cause SERIOUS problems.

when you unscrew ur oil cap, what do u see? i burn oil , i look in that oil to day , ididnt see any oil... i out alot of oil in there today! what happens if you put to much oil in , will some go wrong?

from the engrish i saw...too much oil is bad...i did it once a long time ago ...smoke everywhere ( looks like baghdad now 
) everyoine was laughing....we drained out the oil and put the correct amount in...we drove aroudn for awhile and the smoke went away
