Default how do i get oil out of sparkplug tubes?

found oil in sparkplug holes and on ends of plug wires, i replaced o-rings / gasket and was going to just take old plugs out and put new ones in, but....

......since there is oil in the tubes, i thought if i take the plugs out, the oil will drip into the combustion chamber through the hole that the plugs thread into, and was wondering if this is ok? or do i somehow suck the oil out of the sparkplug tubes while the sparkplugs are still in there, and then take them out?

might sound stupid, but just being cautious,

any tips? thanks

when i had oil in mine i just cleaned the oil off and replaced it with the new valve cover gasket set. I just started the car and it shot some white smoke and that was it. That's probably not a good thing to do but i dont think burning a little oil like that will do much harm.

if you have access to compressed air you can stick a rag down in to the tube and blow air underneath it and it should collect most of the oil in the rag.

i just spray brake clean down there and let it disolve the oil then flush it out with water does a great job. make sure you do this with the plugs still in. then just blow out the water with air or use more brake clean to absorb the water and then jame some paper towels in there to dry it off good then change plugs. make sure you replaced the seals on the valve cover around the spark plug holes or you will get oil down there again

All I did was stick some paper towels down there and it worked fine.

A lot of oil?
Use a turkey baster. One with a squeezeable bulb on the end.

btw, its on my mom's 90 accord lx, and no its not tons of oil, just around the bottom of the plugs, but i am pretty sure its only the 0-rings for the plugs that was the problem, since they were all hard and brittle compared to the soft cushy new ones, and also if it were the piston rings, it probably would of had a different color smoke out the exhaust, which it did'nt.

basically, the car did'nt start, and it still does'nt, but i am hoping it does after i do this, but if its not this, then i will try main relay, and make sure the battery is charged and has clean tight terminals.

thanks for the tips, the main thing i put this post up for was to make sure it was'nt harmful if any of the oil dripped into the cyliner hole after taking the old plugs out, and it sounds like it is'nt so far, thanks

Nah its cool, itll smoke a little bu thats about it. I jus stick a paper towel down there and wipe it around with a screwdriver or whatever then use needle nose to pull it out. You'll be ok and good luck getting it running.

did the o-rings , gasket, new plugs, and got all the oil out and cleaned it really good, but still did'nt start, so that was'nt the starting problem, but it was a thing that needed to be done.

later i got a new cap, wires, rotor just to be safe, and tested the ignition coil, and it was good, but later i tested the ignitor and it was tested bad (at autozone).

so, it looks like thats what it was, ..........so far, (i have'nt put a new one in yet to see the results), but i am trusting that the autozone test was reliable, otherwise its money down the drain.
