Your feelings on converting to cable, in a hydro car, been searched...
Any horror stories from converting to cable, im asking because i found a cable ys1 for a steal, and looking to put it in my integra, im looking at the hasport kit, from what ive seen it makes good sense, but never had any experience...any comments are welcome!

To make them leak and to make them more complex, right? You never have to worry about bleeding the fluid or having the fluid leak with a cable.
Cable to hydro is a total waste of time. There are many excellent cable trannies out there for the B-series, the short YS1s are the most desireable. The Y1 with the LSD is also a nice gearbox, but parts are hard to come by.
Any YS1 casing can be very slightly modded to accept hydro gear sets, including S80-R's. Granted, hydro transmissions do have upgraded shift forks and what not, but that has nothing to do with a hydrolically actuated clutch and everything to do with research and development.
I absolutely hate the vague and distant clutch feel in hydro cars, and I would never own a FWD Honda that has one.

thanks for the responses anyway

to me the only difference between hydro vs cable is that hydros clutch pedal is easier to press.. theres no need to switch cable to hydro.. hydro trannys cost more than b16 engines.. i have the shortest cable tranny, the j1 and love it other than the fact i get tired shifting because its really short..

so oyu dont like the feeling of the gear engaging??? I think cables are the worst thing... drove my friends prelude and absulutely hated it.... it feels so "fake" hydro is by far the way to go

I think hes talking about the shifting assy. on preludes its based on cable, while the clutch fork is engaged by hydro.

Wrong. There is some slight grinding that must be done, but I think it's for the final drive. Anyway, the case has to be modified in some way or another.
1989-91 Y1/J1/S1/A1 parts are non interchangable with 1992-01 B-series trannies. These older trannies cannot use hydro parts from a B-series, but I think people are experimenting with D-series parts. I don't know the details on this...

I plan on using a hybrid tranny with a 99-00 Si casing with 92-93 GSR 1st & 3rd gear, 99-00 Si 2nd & 4th gear and 88-91 5th gear with a Quaife LSD and SRR 4.7:1 Final Drive. We'll see how it goes.

110% agree

Hydro trannies are better then cable, but to say that a cable tranny is junk doesn't make any sense.
It's not junk it's just older technology

Yeah, on our All-Motor Civic we run a tranny based off a jdm S1. We needed close ratios.
We run with 5th gear removed and all the syncro baulk rings removed. I also grind the selector pieces so they naturally ratchet toward the upshifts.
But the dog teeth get a lot of wear (especially compared to my vw tranny) and these cable gears are getting scarce. (thanks to CarDoctor for the used gearset). Some turbo guys are switching to hydro trannies, just because you can actually buy new gear pieces.
I don't really mind the difference between the actual cable v/s hydro clutch. Heck, we barely use the clutch anyway. It's just that we need the really close gears, and this S1 was what was available.
BTW, this civic ran 11.3@119mph.
I asked about using hydro parts in cable tranny, because there are a few gear ratio out there that we'd like to use, but they are from hydro.
Well if we had the resources, we would just have custom pieces made.
