Default Need help quick! TPS info please.

Well I got my new map sensor and now that code is gone. However the car dies after letting off the gas and is idling erractically. I'm guessing of that the TPS is gone as well after my we-todd incident of switching the map and tps sensor connectors.

1. Can I get a TPS sensor without buying the $700 OEM throttle body?
2. It looks like it is attached weird (can't see any bolts), any special tools to get it off?
3. What are the symptons of a bad TPS?

Is there a CEL?

And you can NOT buy another TPS sensor. In order to take off the tps sensor you need to drill out the holes and reattach the sensor, then re-caliberate it with a volt meter.

You should be able to find a used TPS sensor and plug for under $20 in the classifieds. That's where I got mine. All obd2 Honda/Acura TPS sensors are all the same, so you don't even need one from a teg.

It's attached to the TB by headless bolts. Take a dremel and cut slots in the heads and use a screwdriver to remove them. Have you diagnosed a bad TPS with a multimeter?

I pulled this out of one of my archived threads:

How to adjust your TPS if it is reading incorrect voltage:

-Get a volt meter, digital or analog.
-loosen screws that attach TPS to TB. (you may need to take a dremel and make a slot in each screw for a flathead, because USDM TB's have breakaway bolts instead of torque spit bolts)
-turn key to ignition on.
-attach voltmeter to middle PIN on the harness and slowly rotate the TPS until the desired voltage is reached. (in this case, between 0.45-0.50 volts)
-tighten down screws finger tight and test for correct voltage at 0 throttle and at WOT (WOT = 4.45 or higher).
-if voltage is correct, tighten down screws, but not too tight or you will crack your TPS.
-turn on car and you should have a perfectly working TPS. You may need to readjust your idle if you messed with it while trying to figure out your original problem, like me.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping this is what happened because I haven't thrown a CEL yet. I'm guessing my mishap of switching my map sensor and TPS plugs could cause it to be un-calibrated?
