Default Turbo Overheat at cruising speed!

one thing i have in doubt, i want to know that too much advance timing can cause the car overheating at cruising speed without boost? here in southern cali is like 100F and i was crusing on the freeway 5th gear on my b16 turbo and i see the factory water temp needle keep going up and up and up and my EGT shoot up to 700C plus, what does that mean can anyone explain? I checked my coolant system and everything is fine, my coolant resovoir is still full and my radiator fan kicks on when its hot, what can it be?

i had the same problem and replaced everything twice. still have a slight problem. but it ended up being the car ran to lean on my hondata. The place that tuned my hondata said that it was not possible. so i begged them to add fuel they told me that i was stupid. but told me they would, they added fuel and guess what car runs 50 degrees cooler.

You have probably taken all of this into consideration - - - but here goes------
-Air in the water jacket engine is a common culprit.
-PWR/Fluidyne type radiators cool better than stock-
-FAL type highflow fans with full coverage radiator shrouds are helpful-
-Evans coolant is expensive but also helps to minimize detonation (2gal or so @ around $25 pergal-

My temps (92 hatch w built H22) would spike on 90 degree + days. I was using an unshrouded fan & replaced it with a FAL. Also used a hole saw to cut about 6 - 2.5" holes in my front bumper. (like race cars use on their rear bumper) Got a lot more cool air directly to my radiator and intercooler. No more overheating problems.

what he said and check you timming if it is retarted to much your egts will go threw the roof and your temp gauge will go up. 700c isnt to bad for high speed crusing. if you have a wideband drop your fuel and lean burn it (like 17 to 1 afr) under heavy vac. you will not have much power but you dont need much there your egts will drop and. your mpg will go up. if you are running a 13.6 afr now as you lean it out the egts will go up so be careful then as you get it leaner tey will drop. if the is no fuel you cant make heat. lean it out until you get a lean miss then add a little. if you egts are low then rn with it. some cars can not do this due to head design and setup but it is worth a try if you have decent engine management and gauges.
