Default Block Guard for all motor?

Im going to go all motor with my B18c. I heard from a mechanic that honda motors wallbel like a bitch and thats why rods go thru the block. He said i should get a blockguard to prevent that. But also his a Toyota freak. So i have to ask. Block guard or no block guard. Im planning on a 11.6:1 compression in the end, so is it worth it? Thanks

You dont need it...especially on a B18C (thought it came w/ it already)..just make sure you get everything balanced and blueprinted. I would invest on eagle rods too in case you decide to rev your motor pass 9.5K regularly and of course, ARP bolts all the way.

Are you talking about a block guard that goes around the upper part of the cylinder sleeves or a the maind cap girdle? The B18C (and any B-series, for that matter) did not come with a "block guard". The B18C did, however, come with a 3 main bearing cap girdle. But, I will also say that a block guard is unecessary, especially if you were to install it improperly (not following up with a bore and hone).

ARP rod bolts are always a good idea...
