Default AEM Questions....

I just bought an AEM intake for my integra Any ideas on what i can do about not blowing up my motor with it? Like what should I do in the winter? With the iceman I just made it short air for the winter, but I don't think you can do that with the AEM. Will the bypass valve help? If so, where does it go? At the top of the tube? or do you have to cut it? If anyone can help me I would realy appreciate it.

I dont reccomend the Bypass valve. The best way to keep from hydrolocking is to use caution in the wet and not drive your car like its an ATV. I have many friends with AEM's on through the winter and they never have any problem's. Oh and I live in Utah so moisture in the winter is unnavoidable.

When I had my AEM CAI, I didn't have a bypass, but from my brother, he had the bypass valve after July 2001 (The bypass is great but currently there is a recall on the bypass valve because the silicone that holds it together seems to come apart. (AEM sent me the announcement, and as long as you purchased your AEM later than Jan 2001 you should be o.k. The bypass valve works, because there are some instances, where a puddle of water is unavoidable, especially on the passenger side...

I never did trust ICEMAN, hell, they even made a turbo .....

I had the AEM cai on my 96 GS-R, and never had any problems with it. Just be sure to clean out the filter every once in awhile, and you should be fine. I'm ordering a new AEM on monday for my new ride.

nice... i wish i was you, lol

Don't worry so much about hydrolock... it's more rare than you think... just be cautious. If you see a huge puddle or lake in highway then slow down and go around it. You shouldn't drive in 3-6" water anyways.

if you're really paranoid, consider switching back to stock in winter of buying some no name short intake. or the aem short price continues to fall...
swapping intakes is a project most people should be able to handle, especially once or twice a year.
