Imagine if this showed up to the spec miata race
I know you guys are fans of racing in here, and that a few of you are working on spec miata cars, so i thought folks might find this interesting.

Of course they have to have the coupe available over in Japan and not here.
Fiancee bought a miata recently, hence my interest in the fun little buggers.

That is the shizz. What a great looking ride. Imagine the incredible out-of-the-box handling of a Miata roadster with an even stiffer chassis--damn.
That's the type of car I wish would make it to the States so I could buy one used 5-10 years down the road.

For the lazies out there here are the rest of the pics.

If the Miata came in coupe form in the US I definitely would've picked it over the convertible. Although...now that I've experienced a convertible I can definitely see the fun in it. With the hardtop you can kind of have both. Edit: I say "kind of" because clearly a convertible with a hardtop weighs more, is less rigid, and has less rollover protection than a true coupe.

is this company actually doing the conversion themselves?
mazda made this concept car awhile back, also did it with their first gen miata too. i always said it looked better this way, a hardtop on a convertible isnt the same thing as a true hatchback.

It says "spec _____" (I assume Miata, but I can't read the Kanji
) on each picture.

The name Miata isn't used in Japan, they just call it "MX-5" or "Roadster".
That is actually a link to a spec sheet. The Japanese text says something along those lines.
Mazda E&T is Mazda's equivalent of Nissan Autech, if that means anything to anyone... I'm trying to think of a US equivalent, but companies in the US rarely handle the sorts of things these divisions do by themselves. Mazda E&T and Nissan Autech make their main business in customizing cars for commercial use or handicapped mobility. They also handle short-run custom consumer packages like putting a roof on an MX-5, or cutting the roof off the Silvia. Basically, they're in-house coachbuilders

My little contribution, other pics of slightly different MX5 coupe. This is the 3R model or the NR-A model in red, not sure.

Those Miata's are sick!
I wish they sold those here in the states
It makes me sad that there are so many amazing cars that they sell in Japan but don't bring here
It brings me hope that they are starting to import more sports cars such as the Subaru WRX and Evo VIII. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that they will sell well so they import other cars like these!

Hopefully the fact that the Elise is coming and that GM and DCX are both about to put out low-displacement FR cars (possibly with forced induction) will convince the Japanese companies that we want their cars as well.
I think the reason you wont see them in the US is that a miata coupe would probably not fit a 6'0 or taller person at all... unless they raised up the roof in the coupe. As it stands now, a plain old MX-5 roadster puts the top of the windshield right in my line of sight. If only I could comfortably fit in a miata (without having to gut it and modify it) then I wouldn't mind having one.

I thought it was called the Eunos Roadster or something to that extent...
