very CHEAP paint job...worth it?
$600 bux for paint job (pearl package) and comes with 6yrs warranty, was done at http://earlscheib.com paint and body. I read that off the products review page on streetracing.org, and wonderin if anyone has dealt with earlscheib b4? Their prices sound dirt cheap and 6 yrs warranty, i dont even think i can stick with one car for 6yrs. I kno macco is cheap too, but ive seen their work, quality
.

I got my beater painted at Maaco with their best job (longest warranty, good prep etc) paid a little under 600 after taxes and it came out really good. No overspray at all and they made the SSBP really nice. I only noticed 2 blemishes which i pointed out to them and they repainted those panels
Earl Schieb is crap IMO

it also depends alot on how good the particular earl scheib or maaco is that your going to go to.
I'm sure that every maaco isnt going to be the same, different managers, different workers, different ammounts of business that they get, etc.
I have heard of ppl getting good earl scheib jobs, but pick a color that doesnt need to have any depth, because every paint job i've seen come out of those places(aside from whether it has any blemishes or chips or fades later or whatever) has a really shallow finish to it... hard to explain.. I can only say that it looks like it has no depth

As far as prep goes, That is something i'd leave to the tech who does it all day long, just make sure the bodywork is straight, and pull all molding and other items and have them painted separately from the car, ie; door handles, etc....better yet, pay a little extra and have it done nicely by a pro...
well, i have thought about all of ur inputs, and decided to prep the car at home first, then bring it to the shop for the paint job. I used to work at a bodyshop so strippin the paint off is not gonna be a problem, however it gonna take a lot of time. I thought that $600 for a paint job w/ 6 yrs warranty would be a quick short cut but now i decided to take my time and do it right.
ya i would prep my car first. i got my paintjob at some one day paint for 550 for color change and 5 year warranty against peels, and cracks. if u look somwhere on my post you'll find pictures of the hatch.
ive had it for about a year then i sold it. i took very good care of the paint. i didnt wash it to much because it didnt really needed to get wash, but whenever there was somesort of mess on the car i would clean it imediately. i really cared about the paint.
heres i think a different one, its a pretty close shot.
they just couldnt paint inside. i asked the guy if he can spray the inside, n as soon as i asked him he said no. the only flaw on it is that i didnt have clear coat on it. so if it chips it chips green. and make sure you cover any misc part on the car that you dont want to get painted. likk the grill, mirrors. make sure when u drop it off take of as much exterior you want. likk the headlights, taillights, mirrors. and ne thing esle, so the paint looks more professionaly, cuz i dont know if there gona take that stuff off. hope everything works out well. let me know what happens. oh yia, as soon as you get it painted. make sure u keep it indoors. just to be on the safe side. i didnt want ne bird ish or anything on my car. just to be safe.

In that case, stay away from those cheap paint centers. ONLY go to those shitty paint places (earl scheb, 1 day, Maaco) if you're painting your car the basic 8 colors of the crayon box. Anything pearl or metallic, go with PPG paint.
I got a $400 paint job at a local shop here called affordable paint. I will try to post some pics later. I would do it again any day. After 5 months, I had a few rock chips on the front, and they re sprayed the front for free.

Unless you happen to stumble across an awesome painter in a local town that does amazing work for a great price.
