Default I need your help, possibly buying a car...

The engine builder at prominent garage in south Florida has his turbocharged LS/VTEC Integra for sale. He spoke spanish so I dont have the exact details, but heres what I know... The car has JE pistons, Eagle rods, full Ferrea valvetrain, custom piping and exhaust manifold, JG IM, Stage 4 Hondata, 550cc injectors, front mount intercooler, and a turbo good for 24psi, and 450whp on race gas, 350 on 12psi, where he daily drives it. He's selling the car for 12 grand, and is willing to trade for my 2000 JRSC GSR, plus he will give me a few grand, or give me credit towards work at his shop. My car has given me **** beyond belief, and I want to know if this turbo Integra will also...I know every car is different, but does anyone with a similar setup have alot of bullshit problems? Remember, this car is built by a professional. Thanks for the input.

Take the car around, testdrive it and ask him to show you detail(receipts at least) of the stuff he says he has on the motor...

If it really makes 350whp(take it to a dyno if you can), then I thiks it's a good price.... Just make sure you GET what yuo PAY for...

The reason I believe its so cheap is because he gets these parts and wholesale, then he installs them himself, I bet he will make a nice profit off of 11 grand if he sells this car. I rode in it, and it pulls like crazy on 12psi, he spun 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Absolutly ridiculous, the place he works at has a dyno, so Ill just ask him to throw it up on there. Im not worried about the internals, or the turbo, or anything like that, what I cant stand is constant CEL's, and stupid bullshit that is just a hassle. Do you all think I will have these problems? I plan to run maybe 5psi daily driver, and say the 12psi for the track. I dont want to beat on it at all.

Is the turbo car throwing cel's???
Check it out first. If it's tell him you want the car if the cel goes away, then ask him what he did to get it fix.

Good price when you think about it

If you want, I can be your translator... just let me talk to him and I'll find out what the car has...

No CELs as of when I rode with him...His maintenance required did flash though... One of his friends is willing to translate for us if I get more serious. So, any more opinions on the reliability of this car?

he made 450 on race gas with 550cc injectors?

I'd say throw it on a dyno, tell him to let you take it for a day or 2 leaving your car with him to check for reliability

That's the best you can do.
Is a lot of money and you really need to make sure you don't get ripped off

Good idea. I was talking to one of the other people who works there, and he says if I wanted to make more power, I would have to get bigger injectors. Thats a good idea, Ill ask him if he would be willing to do that if I become more serious. Can anyone generally say that I should, or shouldnt expect problems? What kind of problems also?

The one question i would ask is what is he using for an ems. Also perform a basic compression test and maybe even leakdown test. Sounds like an awesome deal if everything works out. Oh ya by the way i drive a turbo gsr for over a year now. No problems/CEL's/overheating/breakdowns/bullshit after getting my hondata tuned.

Hes running Hondata Stage 4, with 550's. I plan on lowering the boost significantly, ya know? Build and engine to handle alot of power, and dont push it hard at all....should last along time.

EDIT- Say 5psi daily driver, 12psi track... Think it would OK?

might as well buy a stock engined car to run those boost levels. I run 1 Bar all day daily driven on pump gas and alittle extra at the track. Once you drive the car with decent boost you'd have to be crazy to drive around at 5psi, Mine is no fun at that psi.
