I am new here.can anyone suggest what mods I should do?
I have a 2001 type-r...I recently installed an AEM Cold Air intake. I would like to stay all motor...I was planning on getting new headers and redoing the header-back exhaust and then putting in some more aggressive cams.
Is there anything else that you guys suggest? anything to help me out i 'd really appreciate it, I dont know what direction to take in mods...I have about 1-2 Gs to spend now and $$ in the future won't really be much of a prob since I have a kick *** job

2k1NBP - What do you want to do with your car? Your answer will totally determine what mods you should do. For instance, if you're gonna autoX, then it's better not to get a lot of mods at this time. However, if you just want a kick *** car for the street w/ little to no track time, either get Spoon/Mugen Header/JDM ITR header + Carsound Cat + exhaust. Also, you might want to spend the dough on Mugen Low-down suspension if you want the best setup for the street turns. IMO, car's already fast enough... do up the suspension and upgrade the seats. Oh yeah, I suppose you could get some nice rims for show... if that floats your boat.
I guess I'll be the first to reply - go to driving school. 240hp is useless, even against a stock Type R, unless you can drive the damn thing first. Do something besides race in a straight line - your car was meant for turning. Sorry for the smart-*** response, but these "tell me what I should do with my car" posts never turn out well. We here have no bearing on what you should do with your car, it's your life. But I'm sure most mature R owners would tell you to learn to drive and appreciate your car to the fullest while it is in stock form. I am living proof that one can leave a Type R basically stock for more than one month and still enjoy it...amazing but true.
If, however, you are an accomplished autocrosser and know how to handle a fast car, disregard my smart-*** statement and go out and buy whatever you want.

thanks for the replies guys, and lol ross u should type quicker next time...
well i agree with your driving school comments...but the summer is almost out and then I have to be back in school, so I guess i'll save that till next summer...
Yes, my primary usage of the car other than daily is for street racing...I know its not really safe and its risky to me and others but hey thats the only scene around here, plus its free ya know?

ok, so headerback exhaust + the suspension...how much is the lowdown? is it an adjustable coilover suspension? mugen is expensive..isn't it?

Anything Mugen is ludicrously expensive. I think the lowdown suspension is like 1300 bux? If you have Mugen questions ask EPGONZALEZ he is on this board and has a fully Mugen-ized black R which is beautiful.
Nighthwak, where are you located? I'm sure there is some kind of autoxing you can do rather than just buzz around looking for people to rev on. Not to say I've never street raced, but I think that the R is kinda wasted on 2nd-gear pulls.

In my opinion, for someone like yourself, the stock suspension will be more than adequate. Since you don't plan on taking it to a track with turns, save your money and buy a nice Header/Exhaust combo. Drag racing newbies cannot overwhelm the stock suspension.
is mugen low down better than tein HA for the street/ Canyon/mountain runs.?? just need to know cuz thats my main concern.
Well you Do have to decide what exactly you want from your ride before you go spending $$$ on it. And streetracing and Stop light Bull **** is just NOT what the ITR is all about. Trust me I know especially after having 2 R's and one done LS.
I searched and searched and decided to go with the Comptech "Icebox" for an intake and as of RIGHT FRIGGEN NOW my Spoon header and Carsound HF cat are on the way," I know some of you are in major suspense since it has been so long but it's almost here and almost installed. I haven't decided on just how to finish the E part of my I/H/E yet, any suggestions are welcome...
I also decided to do a JDM final drive which I will purchase from a friend "used" for a good deal!
I am planning on 16" Volk Te-37's with similar offset and specs as the JDM OEM rims and am still deciding on which rubber and what size to put on. Also a CF hood and removal of all badges and the BIG Rear wing. I kinda stepped into **** by meeting a new good friend at an R club meet who has great connections for parts and a friend with a speed shop/garage. He also has a friend who races an R on track events, which is what I plan on doin after Auto-Xin for awhile.
First and foremost get acquainted with your new best friend. Learn her nuances and goods and bads. It is a beautiful relationship between a person and their new ITR. Enjoy it stock for at least 1 month like Ross "hopefully 6 or so" till you go changing what the Honda engineers deemed a "PERFECT" automobile.
IMHO,
A.
PS and Ross we've got to meet when my stuff is installed OK? Maybe you could make one of our meets? and good advice BTW!

1GreyTeg - can't wait to see that ****. If I had to buy a header right now I'd get the Spoon, did you gte 4-1 or 4-2-1? I go back to school at the end of August, but NYC isnt that far from DC.
The best mod is to upgrade the nut that holds the steering wheel.
-231, who probably should have his computer taken away until he gets some sleep.
