my $.02 on mugen rear sway bar
Just installed it today and let me just say I think its the best mod I have ever done to my R and I have done alot of stuff over the past 3 1/2 years.
I recommend this to any R owner, I cant believe the amount of difference one bar could make. I think I am actually afraid to take my car to its limits now
. I love those 180 degree onramps for the interstate and now its scary to see how well the car corners.
If you have 350 or so bucks to spend and dont know what to do, do this!
In case your wonderin my suspension set up is as follows:
Tein springs
Mugen rear swaybar.
thats it.
anyway just thought I would let yall know what I thought.

Careful there big boy. Practice turns where you have lots of room, just in case you spin the car. While I don't have '180' degree onramps where I live (wouldn't that make you go back the way you came?), I would be careful on the 90 degree turns as well. You don't want to smack you car in curb do you?

sway bars if im not mistaken are the ones near or lower tie bars, its the bar that goes under the car, that replaces our R sway, beefier than the gsr. the rear strut tower bar is the JDM bar that everyone has, and like the one that goes in the engine bay. someone correct me if im wrong.

I believe the saying goes "If you dont have anythin positive to say...dont say it." I am just giving an opinion on a sway bar not street racing in my neighborhood. Gees never thought I would be flammed for this.

Everyone around here has there panties in a knot about anything remotely on the topic of breaking the speed limit. Don't sweat it, you get used to it.
Thanks for the information on the bar, you have convinced me to get one

I know the factory R rear sway is 22mm and I know mugen sells anything from 22mm and up. just wondering exactly what he put in. The front on the car is 26mm I believe.

Wayne: Nahhhh.. Scott can go as fast as he wants on the offramps around here, they build em so 10 semis can drop off the side of em and still not get in anyones way
. Granted Scott's R would be f^cked since most of them have trees. DOH!
Scott: There's a few autox's we'll be at in september, come out and learn what that bar can really do

the bar is 26mm I also have the bar, if you autox try using the smaller ls front bar as well it will help turn in
$350 a lift and 25 to 45min depending on your skill and it is one of the most noticable mods you can get and do your self
and no it is totally different than the rear strut tower bar
but the mugen rear strut bar looks like hot sex on a platter!

For the un-informed
This is a anti-sway bar (or stabilizer bar as Mugen calls it):
This is a strut bar:
The stock anti-sway bar is smaller than the Mugen piece (26 mm). Now I'm no physics guru, but I believe that torsional stiffness of a bar goes up to the fourth power of radius (engineers correct me if I'm wrong here). Thus the torsional (and bending) stiffness difference between the two bars is big. You can't use the 26 mm bars on GSRs because they will rip out of their mounting points (too stiff).
With street tires, your absolute limit of adhesion is dictated by the frictional grip of the tires. This limit is fixed - unless you change tires to something with a softer compound. A thicker anti-roll bar can cause your car to spin more easily - an this can very quickly happen on a decreasing-radius turn like an off/on ramp.
I meant in no way to flame anyone (read my post again) - I was only warning to be careful while exploring the traction limits of the car. Oversteer in a FF car can catch you off guard very quickly. I just didn't want to see another pic of a R wrapped around a pole.

Do the bars make the back end come out easier? Or do bars make the back end not come out as easy? I need help with this
, i have not had a chance to push my R to the limits yet, because i dont feel comfortable doing it on the streets.

the rear bar will make the *** come out easier but the front bar will give you more understeer that you really don't need any more of for tight turns such as autox you should use the smaller ls front bar to help reduce understeer
