My Car is sucking gas
Im an idiot when it comes to the major stuff on the car. I have an HF and they say they are the economy model gas savers. Well i get about 230miles per fill up. Is there something wrong or is this normal for our cars. Like to hear from a HF owner
thanks
thanks
You shoudl avg at least 250, if not up to 325 depending on how you drive. You only have about an 8gal tank but I've heard of hf's getting upwards of 40mpg so...do a basic tune-up, plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel filter, possibly change O2 sensor and see what you get. How many miles on this engine? Ever done a compression test on it? Personally I get 31-35mpg on my 90 dx auto.

Dam.....is that thing outta tune or do you have a heavy foot? I'm doing about 31-37 MPG. And that's around town driving......and I ain't really living in the most likeable climate......try 120+ temps during the day.

there's no way your getting 31-37 mpg on a B16, if your getting close to / the same as an HF why would honda even bother making "economy" cars? I get 32 mpg in my DX, which is highway / city driving mixed - light driving (I have an automatic damnit)... check the tire pressure - youd be amazed at how much it can help, get a basic tune up done - new plugs, wires, check/adjust timing...

upwards of 35+ mpg with a first gen B16 is pushin it. Maybe your speedo is off and its causing your odometer to read your actual mileage incorrectly... Also, do u have a cat. on ur car?

By saying that a tank lasts a certian milage is not a good way to determine fuel mileage. Fill the tank, reset the trip meter. when you next fill up divide the gallons into the miles driven. This gives you MPG (Miles Per Gallon). Do this several times to get a good average. No other method will give accurate numbers. Gas gauges can vary as to how they register the amount of fuel in the tank. The sales of gasoline mandate accurate gallons dispenced by state/federal law. The circumference of your tires can also affect how the mileage is reported. Go to the interstate with a copilot and chevk the odometer verses the mile markers over 4-5 miles if the trip meter is off then it will show up during this test.
