Default Autometer A/F gauge install (Tech Question) :)

Ok, I bought a used autometer a/f gauge from boomerde (I think) on this board...

Well, he emailed me partial instructions but my email is down right now...

Anyone have instructions on the www they want to share or email me?

Thanks!

Red, black and purple wires - where does the purple wire connect? I figure the red is power and black is ground...

Oh yeah, this is for a '00 itr.

And yes I did a search. I thought I saw a similar topic a little while ago, but I can't find it...

Moderators, is there any way to make the search function more accurate?

purple wire is from signal from your o2 sensor, can pick up signal at ECU, can't remember color right now, anyone? really though, autometer A/F gauge is pretty useless... i would have given you mine.

Purple connects to the O2 wire. I Prefer to connect it @ the ecu but you can connect it elsewhere along the O2 wire's path, the gauge will be most accurate connected at the ECU in my experience, most O2 sensor wires are shielded from the sensor to the ECU but your A/F meter's wire wont be, so connecting it at the ECU is best. Do a search and in some other thread I posted the pin's on the ECU harness for the pri and secondary O2 sensor wires, if you can't find the post email me at dave@bseries.net and I'll get out the service manual and find em again.

Hope this helps.

Primary is one of the white wires, secondary is red/blue or blue/red. hehe

I know, I know: I was just discussing that with sgT the other day... It's more of an idiot light than anything. Kind of like the factory temp gauge... But better than nothing. Did you guys see the post of how you can get those modified? Does that even work? Hrm... Of course I'm tuning with a wideband o2, but I can't afford one for the car so this is a nice alternative.

D, I'll im you with my address so you can send me your autometer gauge... I'll get it "modified" by one of those companies and we'll see how accurate it really is. Agreed?

Dave ROR: Thanks!

Oh yeah - you guys are super quick! I posted and like 10 minutes later there were 4 replies!

I'm just playing. It's no hurry.

In all reality, I'll try to get a wideband (expensive) one for my own personal use...

Greddy seems to be a little step up, but still 1 wire... At least you can calibrate it though... Still no compensation for temp either. Maybe I'll upgrade to that and then send the autometer off for the conversion...
