intall help please
I went to install my AEM CAI w/ BPV today and the directions that came with it are really confusing to me. Is there any website that would explain it better to me with pictures?? Or if anyone could please post some pictures of one installed it would greatly help me out. When i bought the system it was pre-cut to fit the BPV and i don't know which end goes near the engine, the shorter piece or the longer one, i can't figure out which way the intake is supposed to bend. Please help!! I also have a set of ground control coilovers that i'm going to install later this week. When i read the instructions it says that i have to trim off part of shocks and dust boot?? I don't have enough confidence to be cutting my shocks, is this mandatory to do? anyone installed them without having to trim anything? I would have them professionally installed but my dealership quoted me a 6 hour job at a price of $450 to do them
with the shocks: it probably says to trim the bump stop...which is just a little rubber piece that is part of the shock assymbly...but you are not hackin at your shock
here's one intake install: http://www.bseries.net/html/garage/cai.php

ummmm. the intake should be pretty straight forward - there's only one way it will work. the bpv will end up closer to the throttle body than the filter, if that helps. edit: bad pic.
don't you have any other install option for your coilovers? it's like a 1 or 2 hour job, not six. should cost, uh $250? say $100-400. there's gotta be some sorta shop near you that could handle it. the only thing you should go to the dealer for is an RSX test drive

I've looked for other shops but unfortunately the buffalo, NY area is not very import friendly since there are major GM and Ford plants around here. Every place i got tells me they don't know how to work on imports
so i'm stuck having to figure out how to install everything which isn't that bad since i'm learning but its just hard trying to find a few hours every week to understand my engine bay. I've never worked on cars before except for stereo systems, i'm great at those, so i'm very new to engine work

Here is another AEM CAI install site :

And here is a site for installing the Coil-Overs(its not a teg and not GC's but it might help):

Good Luck!

I dont mean to slam you, but if you are having a hard time with your intake, maybe you should have someone that has done a suspension before, help you. I would not want to see you get hurt (springs are deadly when compressed).
Don't install coil overs yourself. The bushings on the Lower control arm taht connect eh damper will give you hell! You more than likely will have to replace them, a friend of mine ended up having to replace his whole right rear LCA because teh bushings wee siezed up. Then go and buy some bushings from a Civic at a junk yard to replace teh ones he removed.
Find a friend who has done this before and have them help, or keep looking for an import specialist. Even if you have to drive 45 minutes to get there, it will be worth it.

agreed i wouldnt be messin with springs. if the spring became decompressed it could injure you very badly. i hate to say it but if theres a meinkee (spelling) near you im confindent they could do it. the did my springs for like 135.00 which isnt bad.
After reading all the replies i'm going to try to find a shop to install my coilovers, i think right know that's a little too much for me to do myself. Thanks for the info, i'll let you guys know if i get the intake on alright.
THis is a good one. http://www.bseries.net/html/garage/spring.php
