What is and Corner Balancing and why is it necessary when you have a Coilover suspension. Would you need to do it if you bought a something like the Mugen lowdown since the height isn't adjustable? Any help would be appreciated!!Thanks

there is no way for our cars to get 50/50 weight distribution. That corner balancing is good for is to have even weight transfer from a wheel to its diagnol opposite. When these ratios are the same for front left wheel:right back wheel and front right wheel:left back wheel it makes the car more predictable in and out of turns. The right side will always be heavier than the left and the front always heavier than the rear. but if you get the ratios correct, your cars weight transfer is consistent.
If i am wrong, people clarify. I should read that article yoshi put up.

They talk about corner balancing the ITR in the Best Motoring Video. It was sweet seeing them pull it up into the garage onto scales. Does the car come balanced from the factory? I thought I had heard that.
Yeah, the engine is balanced......I think? After thinking about Corner Balancing........I think you need to have coil overs to corner balance a car.....So a stock Type R wouldn't be. Well if it is or isn't.......The car still kicks *** on the track!
Actually I was thinking when I saw the BM video. They show the car up on the scales with a driver and say that it comes pretty well balanced from the factory, but that is in Japan where the driver sits on the right side. If you notice most of the engine block seems to be on the left side. So I would think the RHD cars would be more balanced and corner weighting would be more important on a LHD.
Of course this is all just speculation, and the block could just appear to have most of it's weight on the left when in reality the trans. may balance it out. Food for thought.

Virtually every Japanese car that was originally designed as a left hand drive vehicle that I have corner balanced in North America and has been converted to right hand drive, is right heavy, including the ITR. Why do you think you hear so many complaints from owners that just slap on some lowering springs say their car's drop is uneven. The weight of the steering box and column is more than enough to unevenly distribute the cars weight over the wheels. Get your car corner balanced!
