How many Itr's are on here with 100k miles +?

Any problems when they get to higher milage?

I'd like to hear from owners with 120-150+ k mile cars (if they exist)..

Basically what problems have they had with the cars?

Yes they exist, the more miles on an R the better.

I have 153,000 miles on my R and haven't had any problems until recently. I've had it since it was new. I add a quart of oil every three or so days now; It blows right out of my pipe and blackens by bumper. Of course I drive my R everywhere, everyday, and I drive it hard so this isn't to be unexpected after 153,000 miles. It still runs strong even with the blow by.

Well my R is getting up to 100k pretty soon and it still is pretty strong. As long as you take care of the schedule maintenance and not beat on it too badly. The motor should last you a long time(250k+). The only problem I see is that on higher mileage cars is that supension parts start to wear out and need to be replaced. Like shocks, supension bushings, wheel bearing, and axles.

 

My 01 has 76k on it. thats pretty high. I will be at 100k in no time.

Yea, I'm up to 49k on my 01. I'm averaging over 2k miles per month.

 

113k currently on stock bottom end. A bit o compression and B's for the past 15k.

issues latly have been wiring and vacume leak related. shrug.. no big deal to me.

Agreed.... my ITR has done 85K miles and NO engine work at all, has been required. I drive it hard (when safe) and it's done about 13 track days now also!!

Definately a problem.... my ITR's suspension is getting a bit 'tired' and either needs reconditioning or replacing (preferably the later), but still handles pretty damn well against most cars!!

 

I'm up to 190 miles, but I haven't driven it for a year. At 150 I blew my original engine, which was burning a fair bit of oil (which was why I was running so low). High revs + low oil + sticky tires = oil pickup picking up air = spun bearings. It was still strong though. Balancing and blueprinting only yielded 4 hp, and the internal surfaces were really cruddy looking.

Only things that have failed unprovoked have been the wheel bearings and engine mounts. You could argue that those were caused by fat sticky tires with wide wheels at lapping days and the mounts from sidestepping the clutch at the strip. There were a few blown bulbs, and a vibration problem that I haven't been able to diagnose yet (probably the bearings again). The synchros in the tranny were a little worn. It didn't like super quick shifts to third, so I replaced that last week. Oh yeah, and the clutch. I went through a few stock ones, but my clutchmasters stage 3 has worked like a charm. Then there was the broken driveshaft, but that happened twice with ones rebuilt by the same company (Fenco - a local remanufacturer) so I wouldn't count that.

That was pretty much it. I shoud have a 200k report a couple months after I figure out this damn vibration...

You should replace them every 90k.

My timing belt, was replaced at the Honda advised/scheduled 100K kms (~60K miles).... but I have not replaced the water pump yet - is that more for colder climates?

 

I replaced my timing belt this past spring with 90K on the odo.

It's a convenience thing to replace the water pump while you have the timing belt off.

BTW - I didn't replace my water pump but I did take a good look at it to make sure the gaskets were not leaking. Next time I do the belt, a new water pump is going in.

Yup - 108,879 today on the way to work. I bought a beater, but today it's 105 degrees (without heat index!). I need the A/C, so I drove the R.

I've never opened the motor. It's stock internally. **fingers crossed** I expect to be one of the highest mile cars at Expo 4 in Phoenix. I've still got the stock suspension too.

Total daily driver from '99-'2003 & had ~5 Solos + ~10-15 track weekends + a little off-roading

**spend the ~$100 to replace the water pump whenever your in there replacing the timing belt. I switched mine at 75,000 'cause I really didn't feel like taking a chance of either going bad when I drive the car as hard as I do in 100+degree summers & -20degree winters.

Advice given to me was, replace timing belt and oil pump and water pump every 100,000 kilometres or so if you're beating on the car. I'm replacing the timing belt, oil pump, water pump, oil pan gasket, oil strainer gasket, front and rear main seals and i'm at almost 98,000 kilometres. Better safe than sorry.

 

I have 106,500 or so miles on my 98.
I've had every problemo you can think of.
Blown stock motor mounts and trashed axles come to mind first.

I'm at 98,000. Nothing major has broken. It likes to eat throw-out bearing every 30,000 or so, but thats about it.

 

107k on the chassis and still as tight as it was when i drove it home

 

114,000 and counting
