Finally, my car is fixed and running again. After intially thinking it was a fuel problem to later finding out my T belt had slipped and nicked my exhaust valves
the car has been down for 1 month 3 days.
I'm sorta glad it happened for the learning experience of pulling the head, which is not very hard at all IMO. It still took me a while of course because I'm forgetful and I like rechecking everything, but all in all it went pretty smooth. It also saved me around $900 and the dealer didn't include a new T belt, water pump, or Portflow inners
in the cost.
Few funny moments. After everything was ready to go the big moment came. I turned the key and.....nothing
. Looked at my fuel pressure guage and saw 0. Then I decided that maybe the car needed the EFI fuse, just a guess.
The car actually started up this time and hunted around for idle, then started revving up and down to 2,500rpms
. I checked the VAFC and all my settings had been erased and it was set for a 6 cylinder. Fixed that and the car still kept doing the same thing. By this time I was getting pretty worried as I hunted around for a missed vacuum line. After checking over everything I noticed the map sensor plug wiring had little slack while the TPS had alot.
I switched them around and the car fired right up. Functioning MAP sensor, who needs it.
I also aced the valve adjustment, thanks to my new snap-on rip off tool. The car actually doesn't tick, so nice. Replaced my cam gear bolts with some new ones that are easier to adjust (hex head).
Getting back in the R after driving around my moms TL (not that its a bad car) and an F150 makes me love it even more.
Tommorrow I should be hitting the dyno again and I'll post up some numbers. This time I'm actually going to tune the cam gears. Hoping for 190whp (crosses fingers).

"snap-on rip off tool"
congrats man, I've done my own valve adjustment, took 2 hours and still did it wrong. Dad came home and 30 min and it was runing fine.

Just search under my name, I just posted about it a few days ago. It's nice and only cost me $38 minus shipping. WAAAAY better than trying to use an open end wrench and screwdriver like I did last time.
