NooB? Block gaurd on a B20Vtec
hey guys, i might be coming into a B20Vtec engine and i just have a few questions, im gonna stick with the all motor route but it seems like a lot of people are talking about how thin the cylinder walls are, with 11.5 compression do you think i would be safe on the stack walls or should i maybe invest in a block gaurd or maybe even posting the block. I know that with a block gaurd your supposed to re-hone the cylinder walls, but thats something that i need to do anyways to get the engine running, so what would you guys suggest, its gonna stay all motor but it MIGHT (slim chance) see some nitrous like around 50 shot, so i just wanted to see what you guys though, thanks a lot

ive never heard of having to rehone the walls for a block guard. you do have to file the blockguard down so it slips into place without much effort. A block girdle would do you some good, and idk about spraying a 50 shot on 11.5:1 compression with those thin sleeves, but im sure good tuning could pull it off.
Talk with Larry @ Endyn about posting. I've taken a look at the process and found it to be informative, but not sure about the necessity for such low compression. The block guard is a good thought, in fact I've got one here for my B20 and will be ordering the Endyn girdle for it as well.
