Well it seems Im out of the scene....2 attempted thefts
Right now I dont know what to say..I have owned my 98 R for 5 years with no problems at all..Ive taken good precautions never going home if followed. I live on a quiet block with no outlet meaning very little traffic..Thursday f..ing thieves came into my parents driveway and attempted to steal the car..They managed to open the door by prying the window and popped the hood luckily they were scared away by airhorns..They left a screwdriver at the scene. I saw footprints in a neighbors yard where they hopped the fence. Damage none...I normally have 2 cars parked ahead of mine.. I didnt think they would of got it anyway cause I have a blackjack antitheft device in addition to my alarm..
The next day I bought the club that locks the clutch pedal from moving...
Anyway last night they returned and was able to cut the alarm and from what I was told vandalized the steering wheel..I havent seen the car yet cause I stayed at my fiancee's place .. At the time my gate in my driveway was locked and there was a car parked ahead of mine.. I dont know if they were scared off but they again left tools in my car...I'm f...ing so aggreavated now... Once the smoke clears I'm going to sell it..I love my R but now the rewards versus hassles are tipping the scales.. The sad part is that I wanted to use my car more for what its meant for racing on the track..but thats not going to happen with this car...Maybe I'll join scene later.. I dont know

if at all possible i think anyone owning that car needs to have it garaged becuase its not a matter of if it will get stolen , but when, and like u said finally after 5 years
From what I've seen, a garage doesn't help.
When they get stolen out of police impound lots, you relalize theres nothing anyone can do.

You should put a baby monitor, you know looks like a walkie talkie but is always talking, in your car when you hear some noise on the monitor you will know something is up. I do not think you should sell your car because some f*ckin' thieves. If you do that it is almost like they are winning.
Actually I dont think it as them winning..I had planned on selling my car a little while back cause I wanted to buy a house..However, my fiancee convinced me not to sell it..cause I love it quite honestly. Next year I'm getting married, so I would like to have a house instead of my R..Who knows maybe I'll get another one..My outrage is that I dont drive the car much as it is. Thats a reality of living with a R in NYC.. Someguys in certain states can have a R and have it as a daily driver..Me on the other hand I have a second car as well.. What bothers me is that they couldnt of stole my car having had a locked gate and a another car in my driveway which is not very wide.. After the first theft I was hell bent on providing additional deterents.. Wheel boot (professional style), running a chain through the tow hook on the back of my car secured to a cement post or tie..lastly a backup alarm.... However, Im not sure if its worth all the hassle...yeah if I had a garage this would of been a no brainer keep it..What I would like to do is at least hold out till Limerock so I can track the car once...

Sorry to hear that, AGAIN
I've never heard of a problem as bad as this when it comes to cars, I've known Audi TTs being jacked in the UK a while back so they can be sold overseas or stolen parts to order but it's like everyone whos anyone is trying to take shots at Tegs.

Garages help plenty. If somebody tries to break into my garage I'm going to hear it before they even get to the car.
Police impound lots aren't the most secure of places in many cases. I'd feel far safer with my car in my own garage.

I remember reading a year or two ago about a guy who heard his garage door open. By the time he got out of bed, and got to a window too look, his ITR was backing out the driveway.

One guy.
He must have been too slow. No freakin' way it would happen to me. They'd have to break something to get the door to open in the first place.
And if I saw it backing out the driveway that's good enough. Mr. Remmington 870's arms are longer than my driveway.

Am I the only person in the world who has a small dog?
My Jack Russell won't stop thieves from taking my "done" GSR, but he'll wake me up with enough time to load the 410 shotgun and say hello to the individuals who are trying to take my car.

I dont know if it will start but when the police come i will give it the thorough breakdown.. Anyway, the car is going in a friend's garage. After that I have somebody who will keep to I sort out this mess.. Ive been to the track numerous times but was only blessed to ride in DavidNYC gutted R... What a experience..

the did it once, they did it twice and most likely they will try to do it again. i would stake out close to the car for several nights with a gun or something. at least this way you can get a wack at a thief.
The Police are here now supposedly they are going to dust for prints>>Why is that everytime a cop responds to a accident whether minor or major or break in they act like what do you want do...After they leave I'll find out if its driveable...

Wayne,
As much as I love my R. You do need to analyze the situation. The most important thing is your safety. The next important thing is financial obligations.
If I were you, I would repair the ITR, track it at Limerock, then sell it. You have more important things to worry about, your safety and your soon to be wife. Once you get settled, get a house, then get an EVO. It handles as good or better than the R and you can fit a baby seat in the back no problem. Theft issues are less, etc. etc. And you can still track an EVO at HPDE's.
If you need to experience the sounds and feeling of an R, I can take you around in my race car. (PS, I have pics of you and I at Summit on the track)

Thanks for the input dave...I'm looking forward to limerock...But it seems right now thats what I will do.. I know I told you before but I had a blast in your car...Looking forward to next time...
Can't believe they came Back That is JUST PLAIN BALLSY if you ask me.
Well then again it was probably the last thing you'd expect them to do.
Close Circuit TV is a GOOD IDea. I have some of those Tiny Wireless Cameras staking out my R. I have Motion Detectors on the Lights and when the lights come on the Cameras start recording.
a friend of mine Puts a Car cover on his Car and links on of those personal Alarms to the Cover so if it is Removed then alarm will go off.
I never thought about that but he has had NO problems and he parks his car on the Street.
Glad they didn't get it though.
