My buddy shredded a syncro in his GS-R transmission. The shop has it apart in what looked like a million pieces.

So out of curiousity, how many parts in total are in a GS-R/Type-R transmission.

I mean if you wanted to build one new, completely from scratch with every bolt and clip, how many pieces would there be in total. Seals, gears, retainer clips, bolts everything.

Guesses are welcome. I'll start by guessing 350 pieces total.

I'd guess b/w 130 to 140.

 

ya, under 200 for sure. but maybe only 100 pieces to order as they are gonna be grouped together. the sum of the parts will probably be double what a new itr trans will cost you.

 

About 128 different Groups of pieces you have to order.

I am not sure about the individual pieces

But the tranny is broken into 7 Major groups

This doesn't include the pieces that you must order multiples of.

 

Anyone have any link to an online manual picture or something so I can cheat and try counting parts?
