OT: Best Motoring's H&T downshifts.....
Well, I undertand the theory of downshift and done it a few time. It felt weird on some of the local curve's around my house.
Maybe it's the reason that I didn't brake hard and late enough to actually benefit from it. But I don't wanna get too risky on city streets.
But the question is when I watch BM vcds, I notice that they downshift through each gears without skipping.
For example, they are coming to an end of a stright in 4th and ready to corner in to a curve that's suitable for 2nd gear.
They would Clutch in, H&T, blip gas, down 3rd. Cluth out. Then again! Clutch in, H&T, blip gas. then...down to the 2nd. Instead of holding the clutch or brake longer to go straight from 4-2. Is this a proper way of H&T? And is this way better for the tranny?
Saturday will be my first track day and I would like to know the correct way so I can practice and not develop a bad habit of incorrect H&T.

Just study it mentally...and you will have it before you know it out there.
it's hard to practice late braking on the streets (actually, not recommended) but h&t is something that can be practiced. I've been h&t'ing on the streets for ...hoary chit! 8 yrs now!
yoshi - who likes to show people how to h&t and then watch them try it for the 1st time
oh jeah, it's better to go thru the whole gears b/c it's easier to produce a rythm down thru the gears.

Ok, I guess I'll be watching endlessly BM videos to "memorize" it robotically.
I scare the crap out of a old man walking a dog when I did some of the earlier trials. I wanna rev more so I brake more, the transisition is really not smooth. And with some understeering, my car rip out of the corner like a drunken man. I can still remember that awked look on that guy's face as I am busy correcting the steering wheel.
Oh and I have Mugen pedal sets, so I think the pedals are somewhat easier to H&T, and I was wearing thin-layer shoes.

Won't double-pumping the clutch more volunable for clutch wear?
i have 2 different styles. One for street and the other for track. Street, is just basic clutch in and rev the motor, D-shift and match the revs.
Heel toe for the track. I can keep the two separte for the drive home. Practice i guess.

As a beginner, just try the smoothest way first!
