VTEC is very very weak
I need your help guys. Ive had my h22 in my accord for about 1.5 years now, and its acting funny. Just this wednesday I went to the track and my car was weak. VTEC normally pulls hard all the way past redline, but its now very weak. I can feel a SLIGHT pull but it seems to run out of steam by the time I get to redline.
Only recent changes is tapping my manifold for the NX direct port install, switching to Mobil 1 5w30 a day before the race, and also adding toluene to the gas to go from 91-95 octane a day before the race.
If you guys read my other post, you know that my idle is acting funny; sometimes stalling.
Compression results after racing was:
1: 195
2: 200
3: 205
4: 207
with a capful of oil:
1: 220
2: 233
3: 235
4: 237
The numbers before adding the oil was the same as last time I raced. I also have a walbro fuel pump that I recently added. Could it be that there is too much fuel? I believe it is about 50-55psi.
thanks a lot

I can definitely feel a slight pull at ~4800 which is where my vafc is set. However, it is quite different than it used to be. As if it doesnt pull all the way to redline. Im sorry its hard to explain.
its like this bro and I was told the same thing. Its supposed to be 31 at idle and 41 at wot at least mine is with the stock fuel pressure regulator. THis was when I was messing artound with stuff . In my opinion I believe that you were runnin too rich and thats why your not gettin the pull you need at redline. After I put my stock regulator back the power came back. If you have an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator put it at that psi.
Oh yeah dont foerget to get it tuned also that may help ya out a bit and all I also have a 255 venom fuel pump. So cheers to you bro just dont blow anything.

When im running the nitrous, should I leave the fuel pressure at WOT also at 41psi?
EDIT: I have a B&M fuel pressure regulator. I turned down the fuel pressure all the way down t about ~42 at WOT. Something with that regulator keeps stock at about 38-39, so I cant go lower. Anyways, I tried out the VTEC again at 4800 and 5100 and im not sure if i can feel a difference in 2nd gear. I can definetely hear my engine get louder at crossover, but im not sure about the power.

Set your FP @ 40 psi at idle. Then what you need to do is put your Vtec crossover
point back to stock. What is happening is that your Vtec transition is more smooth now becuase you lowered it. So its not going to kick it like it did before. And plus you have upgrades some components since then..
Going to a dyno and tuning the car properly will give you the best results..

well i could be a little out of my league making this statement, but as i have an h23, i can feel some pull up at around 4500 which is around abouts where my secondaries open up. its a very slight pull so i think that might just be what you're feeling. i've read that as a precaution if youre running richer than the parameters allowed in the ecu, vtec does not engage as a failsafe type of thing.

Hey, I have tried various VTEC points, 4800, 5100, and delayed all the way to 5400. All I can feel is that the engine gets loud like VTEC normally does, but I do not feel that kick that I love. I turned down the fuel pressure as low as the b&m fpr lets me, which is about 42psi. Should it be lower? higher? Something is still up with my idle too. Tends to go below 700 now. This happened after my walbro install. Is it because there is just too much fuel?

toulene causes a rough idle sometimes because its "harder" to burn</TD></TR></TABLE>
3 gallons of toluene with 14 gallons of (91 octane) bringing the total up to 95 octane. Man I hope thats the problem. But im afraid that it isnt because when I was at the track, after a few runs without nitrous the car kept stalling when I turned it on and tapped on the gas. If I let the rpm go down slowly then it wouldnt stalled, but if I just tapped the gas and let go it would stall.
