Default VTEC not working or is it me?

Hey,

i got a d16z6 with AEM cai and apexi N1 cat back. When does vtec kick in on this car?? I dont feel any power difference at any RPM'S. A few nights ago i could feel a pull after 6500 rpm in second, thats it. anyone know?? or could help???

if you did a search, you'd know. its around 4800 rpm. you won't feel a difference in pull, but you should notice a slight sound difference with your intake.

It's a 125 hp engine. Don't expect too much out of the infamous VTEC. It's not like it's a freaking turbo or something.

ummm two days ago! i just went for a drive *turnt off the stereo* and at 4800 rpm my intake sounds completly different so i am guessing it is really working. Next year i'll notice a power different..muhahha Turbo sohc vtec

yup its that low. b18c5 crossover is 5800.

with aem cai and aem pulley kit.. will that make a difference at all when vtec kicks in??

Nope. You either need a VTEC controller or a chipped ECU to do it.

now with the vtec controller... how does that make any difference? cant you just tell it when you want vtec to kick in?&gt;

you should hear a deeper noise from the intake, and a slight pull. I noticed from owning vtec motors that if you take off your air filter, and take it around the block, it should be a little louder. If you dont hear a deeper noise or not a slight pull, then check your vtec wires, they might be disconnected, or the screen on the solenoid might be clogged, good luck.

yup. its pointless to change the vtec point unless you have aftermarket cams.

the "slight pull" is all in your head. there's no jump in power, first off. the power just climbs a little faster in vtec. it sounds faster, but its not.

It feels like a slight pull because your rpm's drop quicker noone said there was a power jump
