Default Automatic H22 same as 5speed H22 ???

I'm about to pick up a JDM H22A longblock for $1500 with ecu and everything else, but the thing is that is coming from an automatic. I was wondering if the JDM automatic H22A is the same as the 5speed 200hp, 161 ft.lbs. torque monster engine.. but just with an automatic tranny. TIA... btw, I already did a search.

think the ECUs are different.. and you will have to find parts to do the swap to the manual (clutch plates etc..) for that .. also a manual instrument guage.. good luck

Automatic H22's are the same as 5spd H22's, so if you are buying an H22 from an auto and want to put it into a 5spd Prelude, then it will work as long as you put the 5spd ECU and Tranny

ur'e gonna put a h22 in a dc2? hmm, interesting.

what's the mount situation like? weight distro? and any reasons for not building the b series (other than the H series being so much better?)

anyway, good luck!

Yes, i havent done this swap before but i always like a challenge. The motor mounts bolt up with minimal cutting (HCP).
I also read that the H22 is only roughly 80 lbs. heavier so im thinking i can take that off by getting a carbon fiber hood, taking out ac, power steering and some other little stuff like that. handling shouldnt be too bad.
200 horses baseline for a little bit cheaper than a GS-R sounds nice. Not to mention that ill have just as much torque that a Si will have hp. TORQUE MONSTER..... damn, tractions going to be a major problem.

challenge...that's the reason i did this swap. Yes when you do get everything done it will be worth it. Yes you will like it especially when vtec engages in 1st and traction is not there. trust me on this any h22 in eg's or dc's will be fun. if you need help pm me latz

oh yeah forgot to answer your questions. everything is the same except the tranny. i order mine too with the an auto swap. i just changed out the tranny for a 5 speed. With the auto engine you probably still have the torque converter still attached to the engine where as the 5 speed swap already has the flywheel and clutch. so you will need a clutch and flywheel with flywheel to crakshaft bolts. you'll know what i mean you look at. as far as the ecu i'm using the jdm auto ecu. so no problem

I have been happy with my H22a in my DC2 for the past 5 years. We specialize in the swap if you need anything let me know. If you have an auto ecu we can convert it to manual.

I thought and thought and thought about it some more.... and I decided im going to order my motor from this company called http://www.japandomesticmotor.com. I havent heard anything about them yet since theyre a new company, but my friend spoke to the guy that owns it and he said that hes very nice and professional.
When you buy the engine they put your name and info on a peice of paper, tape it to the motor and take a picture of it and e-mail it to you so you know what youre getting. And if the motor you receive doesnt look like what you get then he'll take the motor back and send you a new one or give you your money back without restocking fee... for us anyways, because we're going to be ordering 2 or 3 motors from him at once. The price he qupted me was $1900 shipped.
We'll see how things go with this company and I'll let everyone on this board know how my experience went.
Also, thanks for all the replys! Cant wait to get my motor in.
